The last World Champions, Acend, and the only Turkish team of the tournament, BBL Esports have been eliminated after the first Lower Bracket round. G2 Esports and Guild Esports’ run continues.

G2 Esports vs Acend

The losing teams of the first round of the Upper Bracket faced each other to stay in the competition. G2 Esports’ pick of the series was Fracture. Acend started the game with a solid pistol round performance and led the first half with a small margin, 7-5. After his disappointing performance in the previous round, Mehmet Yağız "cNed" İpek stepped up for his team on the attacking side with Chamber in his hands. The Turkish player grabbed 14 kills and held a 1.41 rating to keep his team ahead in the first map of the series. Žygimantas "nukkye" Chmieliauskas played the biggest role in G2’s defense with a 1.41 rating and 13 kills on Raze. G2 won the first two rounds of the second half but fell behind after that point. Acend’s defense got better as they bought guns and they closed out the game after nine rounds of second-half action, 13-8. Vakaris "vakk" Bebravičius’s Breach played a huge role on defense and he finished the game with 19 kills and a 1.37 rating. L1NK and cNed also had 19 kills at the end of the competition and Acend made a great start to the series by taking down their opponents on their map choice.

Acend had a huge chance to sweep G2 as the second map was their comfort zone, Haven. We have seen them play the map so many times before and the competition was at the highest level possible. Another solid attacking performance by Acend was executed in the first half as they secured seven rounds and lost five. G2 managed to win the last two rounds of the first half to close the gap and stay in the competition. cNed once again popped off on the attacking side with a 1.32 rating on Jett but Auni "AvovA" Chahade kept G2 in the game with a 1.70-rating Astra performance. The Danish player secured 15 kills while cNed had 13. G2 Esports played like a different team in the second half and they dominated the map, especially in the earlier stages of their attacking turn. cNed and vakk were the leaders of Acend once again but this time, it was Johan "Meddo" Lundborg’s time to shine. The Swedish Killjoy grabbed 18 kills on the attacking side and helped G2 force another map in the series, 13-11. It was a very close matchup but G2 Esports’ dominance in the earlier phases of the second half as mentioned sealed the deal for them. Meddo finished the game with 28 kills.

The last map of the series was Bind. It was a very tense moment for both sides as losing the map meant the end of the season for one of them. Acend won the first pistol round but G2 Esports’ players were there to win the game without any doubt. Starting with the eco-round, G2 played impressively on defense and won nine rounds in the first half, only losing three. Acend’s attacking arsenal looked weak against G2’s defense. Aaro "hoody" Peltokangas had a massive half, holding a 1.77 rating on Skye and nukkye helped him with 13 kills on Raze. Acend started the second half with back-to-back wins in the first two rounds but G2 managed to execute their strategies almost perfectly after the first gun round. They won four rounds in a row to put an end to the series, 13-5. nukkye grabbed 20 kills and held a 1.58 rating.

BBL Esports vs Guild Esports

BBL Esports got swept by Liquid and Guild Esports were topped by Natus Vincere in the first round of the tournament. Both teams faced elimination in the Lower Bracket and the series started on BBL’s map pick, Haven. Ali Osman "AsLanM4shadoW" Balta’s 3-kill Omen performance made the pistol-round winnable for BBL and the Turkish side started the game by winning the first two rounds. However, Guild Esports’ time began with the first gun round and the European team won seven rounds in a row. BBL won one more round till the end of the first half and Guild held a huge advantage after winning nine rounds and losing three. The Swedish trio of the team, Leo "Leo" Jannesson, Saif "Sayf" Jibraeel, and Yacine "Yacine" Laghmari were the leaders of the team. Leo grabbed 12 kills and the other two with 11 kills each. Aslan held a 1.16 rating and secured 9 kills to help his team but it was not enough. Moreover, Hüseyin "aimDLL" Kabişteke also had 10 kills to his name but they couldn’t get the help they needed from their teammates. Guild’s dominance kept on going in the second half as they won four rounds without losing any to conclude the first map of the series, 13-3. Sayf finished the game with 19 kills and a 1.48 rating on Chamber.

Guild Esports picked Fracture to finish the series and continue its run from the Lower Bracket. They managed to plant the bomb in the first two rounds but BBL Esports played superbly in both post-plant scenarios to grab the lead. Doğukan "QutionerX" Dural grabbed two kills in each round to make it happen for the Turkish squad. The first half continued with both sides’ winning streaks. BBL had a 5-round streak to reach seven rounds rapidly but Guild Esports won the last four rounds of the half to close the gap, 7-5. Qutioner and aimDLL were the most important parts of BBL’s defense. Guild won the second pistol round but BBL answered back with a 2-round winning streak. After that point, it was expected that the Turkish team could take the momentum and continue to dominate the game but the scenario was completely different. Guild Esports had great defenses until the end of the map and concluded the series by taking BBL down with a score of 13-10 on Fracture. Nikita "trexx" Cherednichenko had a stand-out performance, holding a 1.58 rating with 25 kills.
