After failing to qualify for the ongoing VCT 2022 - North America - Stage 1 - Main Event and a disappointing finish at NSG 2022 Winter Championship - Finals, Built By Gamers has announced that it will be making "significant changes" to the team's main roster.

Denoting Built By Gamers 2021 run “busy” would be an understatement given their extensive tournament participations. The team enrolled in over 20 tournaments, including VCT events, NSG, and other regional tournaments. However, they weren’t as luck in terms of placement with their only Main Event win being at NSG Summer Champs - Summer Champs - Open 7, and 2nd place finishes at Pittsburgh Knights Monthly Gauntlet 2021 - September: Fall Frenzy, and NSG x Complexity Invitational. Their VCT run wasn’t special either with no Challenger Event participations in Stage 1 & 3, and only a 7th-8th place at VCT 2021 - Stage 2 - North America - Challengers 1.

The roster changes for BBG were few and far between, which was rather surprising especially in the off-season, during which most teams in the scene were introducing changes to their rosters. Ever since the new year began, the team resumed their tradition of participating in tournaments, but one again with limited success. In VCT 2022 - North America - Stage 1 - Open Qualifier 2, for instance, they demonstrated praise-worthy performance till the end but Rise got the better of them and BBG was stripped of their hopes of qualifying for Stage 1 Challengers event. To make things worse, NSG 2022 Winter Championship - Last Chance Qualifier bore worse results with an early loss against Renegades and subsequent elimination at the hands of Reformed in a clean sweep.

Prior to their disbandment today, the roster consisted of William "Will" Cheng, Jake "POACH" Brumleve, Joseph "Bjor" Bjorklund, and Raymond "Rarkar" Xu. Since the roster remain unchanged for majority of 2021, these players have been teammates under the BBG banner from April 2021. Tristan "Critical" Trinacty was another member of the core roster, who was released from his contract in early November. Instead of finding a permanent replacement, the team filled their 5th spot in tournaments with the help of Aaron "b0i" Thao or Sean "bang" Bezerra.

The specifics on how the roster will be revamped are unclear; however, it is worth mentioning that William "Will" Cheng is currently a restricted Free Agent, Raymond "Rarkar" Xu has only been benched with his future with the team still in question. In contrast, Jake "POACH" Brumleve and Joseph "Bjor" Bjorklund have been declared unrestricted Free Agents and are actively looking for opportunities with other organizations.
