When the all-female FTW Summer Showdown was held as North America’s final Ignition Series tournament, one team stood head and shoulders above the rest: MAJKL. The roster didn’t drop a single map en route to a fairly dominant victory, and it was clear that this roster couldn’t just stand in the female scene, but had a serious shot at competing on par with the males. To this end, the roster has been signed by Cloud9 ahead of First Strike, and has been branded as Cloud9 White.

With the inception of Cloud9 White, it's also being confirmed that the current main roster of Cloud9 will be rebranded into Cloud9. In an interview for The Esports Observer, Gaylen Malone, Senior General Manager at Cloud9, it's being expressed that the organization hopes for some of the members of Cloud9 White to be part of Cloud9 Blue in the future: "I don't expect us to exchange players week-by-week," said Malone, "but I do expect for the coaches and players of Cloud9 Blue to eventually look to integrate some of the women from Cloud9 White into their roster."

The roster consists of katsumi, Jasmine "Jazzyk1ns" Manankil, Annie "AnnieDro" Roberts, Melanie "meL" Capone, and Alexis "alexis" Guarrasi. Jazzyk1ns, meL, and alexis each have some experience in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, but nothing that is incredibly notable. AnnieDro was an Overwatch streamer for the Florida Mayhem. In VALORANT, of course, success has been all they’ve found.

Prior to the FTW Summer Showdown, MAJKL played a few events, such as Counter Logic Gaming Blitz Cups and the odd weekly event, but it was nothing too major and their results weren’t fantastic. When they matched up against the female competition, however, results were stellar. With meL playing Cypher, Jazzyk1ns on Sova and Jett, AnnieDro on high-powered fraggers like Raze, katsumi on Omen, and alexis on Breach, they destroyed the competition. AnnieDro currently sits at a 291 ACS throughout all her events, while Jazzyk1ns is not far off at 287. The two star duelists also boast 2.07 and 2.28 KD respectively.

MAJKL showed the world that they were good enough to compete with the best in North America. They will now get their chance to show their worth in the absolute top of North American competition. They’ll be competing at First Strike, and while we don’t really have anything to measure them against, many think they have a legitimate shot. Cloud9 White is also the second full-female squad to compete on the professional level in VALORANT under the wings of an organization. The first one to do so was Dignitas, who expanded from CS:GO to Riot’s shooter and is participating in events in both games.

Cloud9 White are:

Canada Jasmine “Jazzyk1ns” Manankil United States Annie “AnnieDro” Roberts Canada Melanie “meL” Capone United States Alexis “alexis” Guarrasi United States katsumi
