Elderflame won’t stay the most expensive VALORANT skin for long
The recent Elderflame skins’ price has stirred up a bit of controversy within the VALORANT community. Riot Games released the Elderflame bundle on July 10th, priced at around $100 USD. According to the studio’s blog post regarding skins’ price tiers, the recently released set was classified as VALORANT’s first Ultra edition, which means we are yet to receive the most expensive tier, the Exclusive edition.
Apparently, the Exclusive tier is saved for melee weapons, and cost around double the price per item as proven with the previous bundles. For example, the Luxe Melee, which falls under the Select category, came with a 1750 Valorant Points price tag, translating into $18. This is double the average price per skin when the weapons are grouped into one purchase.
The Revenue Lead of VALORANT at Riot Games, Joe Lee, previously explained the studio’s decision not to allow skin trading in their title. He justified their reasoning as to allow the community to have the freedom to directly purchase the skin they prefer from the shop when it is available. However, with the Ultra edition priced at $100 and the trajectory indicating around $125 for the Exclusive tier with its melee weapon going for around $65, would this really allow the community to have access to the skins they want?
