G2 Esports has allowed their whole roster to explore new offers. The statements came just minutes after it was disclosed that G2 had been denied VCT EMEA and Americas partnership.

Oscar Cañellas "m1xwell" Colocho, Aaro "hoody" Peltokangas, Johan "Meddo" Lundborg, Žygimantas "nukkye" Chmieliauskas, and Auni "AvovA" Chahade have declared their intent to join a different squad in 2023. Players are reportedly still bound to G2, making them restricted free agents.

Mixwell has been a member of G2 since the group entered VALORANT in June 2020, and nukkye joined from Heretics in June 2021. Meddo and Hoody were signed in December 2021 after a time with Giants Gaming. Mixwell, the retired CS:GO star, out of all the players, had the most success with G2, one of the top clubs in Europe in the year 2020. However, with the launch of the VALORANT Champions Tour, the team was unable to duplicate the success.

According to some rumors, Riot has decided not to invite G2, which is expected to be selected as a partner team, because of G2 CEO Carlos Rodriguez shared a video of him partying with Andrew Tate, who is well-known as a misogynist. After this incident Rodriguez offered an apology and G2 announced an eight-week unpaid absence. In the event that they were accepted into the Americas league, the organization even promised an exclusive interview with Rodriguez. There was never an interview.

G2 was vying for a place in the Americas League. Rumors about the scenario began to circulate in mid-June, but they were never substantiated. During this period, the club was scouting potential teams and personnel in preparation for their entrance into the NA league.

The future of G2 in VALORANT is still unknown. The squad has not said whether it intends to compete in the Challengers circuit or withdraw from competition until it is granted a position in the partnership circuit.
