koosta has been active in the competitive CS:GO space since 2014, and has played for a number of top-tier organizations including Team Liquid, Counter Logic Gaming, Cloud9, and, of course, Gen.G. He’s participated in some of the biggest events in the world, taking second place in the North American edition of ESL Pro League Season 8 with Ghost Gaming, and also won the DreamHack Open Anaheim in 2020 with Gen.G just prior to Counter-Strike’s move online due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Things haven’t quite gone as Gen.G would have liked offline, though, with only a win at ESL One: Road to Rio North America, and Gen.G’s Counter-Strike presence has been in flux since the departures of Damian "daps" Steele Damian "daps" SteeleTeam:NRG EsportsMaps Played:114KPR:0.69ADR:137.69 and Sam "s0m" Oh Sam "s0m" Oh

Going straight off roles, it would seem easiest for koosta to slot in on the Sentinel role PLAYER1 previously occupied. He also adds a veteran presence to help guide Gen.G’s upcoming talent in the form of Shawn "Shawn" O'Riley Shawn "Shawn" O'RileyTeam:Gen.G EsportsMaps Played:130KPR:0.88ADR:159.57.
Players such as s0m and daps have shown that Counter-Strike success certainly translates to VALORANT, but can take time to come online. Long-term, koosta is certainly a good signing, but what remains to be seen is whether he can bring Gen.G more success than PLAYER1 in the short term. He’ll likely make his Gen.G and VALORANT debut when the Champions Tour kicks off, on January 27th for North America.
