As we draw closer to the more significant Off-Season tournaments, the roster announcements for teams have started picking up the pace and the Valorant community is all for it. NRG Esports decided to capitalize on the suspense and gradually release the names of their roster members over the week and after going through the first few days, it became apparent that OpTic’s former core would lay the foundation for the new roster. This revelation left fans anticipating for the remaining puzzle pieces that would make the team a formidable opponent in the upcoming VCT 2023 and it seems like NRG has found the right person in Ardis "ardiis" Svarenieks.

Although NRG had a plausible run during the recently concluded VCT season, there’s no doubt that it could have been better. Their Stage 1 run came to a rather hasty end after they ended the Group Stages at the Main Event with a 1-5 record, but then had a great comeback in the subsequent stage placing 4th at the event only a few matches away from a LAN qualification.

Courtesy of VCT’s structure, they retained the opportunity in Last Chance Qualifiers to make VCT 2022 - Champions Istanbul but that avenue wasn’t too fortunate for the team. Following the announcement of their acceptance into the Riot Partner Program, their roster was dropped to make way for a massive restructuring before the next season.

Today’s announcement has revealed an important figure to their team, who is none other than one of EMEA’s best. His contribution to FPX’s run in VCT 2022 cannot be overlooked at any cost. From the first stage, where they were robbed of a Masters spot for Reykjavik to coming for the VCT 2022 - Stage 2 - Masters Copenhagen title and then finishing off with a 4th at the biggest event of the year. He shines the brightest in his role as the team’s duelist as Jett or Chamber, but can strike out as a reliable Initiator as well with Kay/O. Over the last year, he has maintained a 1.12 KD with 229.7 ACS on some of the biggest stages in the world placing high in the Player leaderboard on several occasions.

With this announcement, NRG’s roster is as follows:

United States Sam "s0m" Oh Canada Pujan "FNS" Mehta United States Austin "crashies" Roberts United States Victor "Victor" Wong Latvia Ardis "ardiis" Svarenieks

United States Chet "Chet" Singh (Head Coach)
