Sentinels-FaZe rematch slated for North American Masters grand final

The lower bracket concluded tonight in North American Masters. Envy, Gen.G Esports, and FaZe Clan all came into the day looking for that berth in the finals, but only one could take it. Despite a hot start from Envy, Gen.G continued their big lower bracket run with a win, but ultimately couldn’t deal with FaZe’s style of play. FaZe will rematch Sentinels in the grand finals tomorrow.

Gen.G were up against Envy first, and things did not start off well. Envy frankly rolled them on Ascent, with a 13-4 scoreline. Victor "Victor" Wong and Anthony "mummAy" DiPaolo were all over them while Gen.G couldn’t get anything going.

But things quickly turned around. The whole team put together a great performance on Haven, and Bind quickly turned into a reverse Ascent as Gen.G dominated.

Their improvement over the course of their lower bracket run and even this individual match was obvious. Michael "MkaeL" De Luca having one of his best events in a long time, Anthony "gMd" Guimond showing hints of his old duelist self, Kenneth "koosta" Suen establishing himself as one of the top Sentinel players in all of North America, this team isn’t easy to face. And FaZe would be next in line.

While Gen.G had taken down many good teams, the in-your-face aggression of FaZe was a whole different beast. And it turned out to be just a bit too much for Gen.G to handle. They only won two defensive rounds on Ascent as Andrej "babybay" Francisty had another great game.

Bind was more of the same. Gen.G just struggled to deal with FaZe’s aggression and firepower, while their opponents showed that they hadn’t lost steam yet after losing to Sentinels. Their quick pace dismantled Gen.G on both attack and defense, and sent them through to the finals for a rematch with SEN.
