Shroud is willing to fill as a stand-in but won't join a professional team
It is hard for anyone who came across the first-person shooter genre in the past few years to not know the name Michael “Shroud" Grzesiek. Former Counter-Strike: Global Offensive professional player turned streamer and content creator, Shroud has been one of the most praised and naturally talented players in recent history. His instant dominance over any shooting game he decides to pick up, except for Fortnite, is admirable. Fans got excited seeing him enjoy VALORANT as much as he did during its closed beta, and even after the game’s official release, raising the possibility of seeing him return to the competitive realm.
Shroud discussed this topic a few times on stream, mentioning the positives and negatives of it. He focused on how it will fill the competitive hunger he always has but at the same time heavily affect his streaming schedule, leaving little to no room for free time where he can unwind and just enjoy life. In a recent stream, he decided to finally give a definitive answer to the question. Shroud declared he will never join a professional VALORANT team, but will happily act a stand-in from time to time.
“Would you join 100 Thieves if they offered? No, Would I join a team as a stand-in if they ever needed me? Sure. So let’s say Jimbo can’t play because of something, and they needed me, sure, I’ll fill, I don’t care,” said Michael “Shroud" Grzesiek.
His answer definitely leaves the door open to possibly seeing him fill in for a missing member, and with Shroud’s experience, it is surely going to be one of the top teams in North America. This includes the likes of Gen.G Esports and Cloud9, a team he spent the majority of his Counter-Strike: Global Offensive with.
What do you think of Shroud’s decision to sit on the sidelines and call it a day? If he would ever change his mind, where would you want him to go? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
