While Nerd St. Gamers’ monthlies began as small affairs, they slowly built up in both prize pools and popularity over the course of 2020. With all these done, we’ve come to the crowning end of the event, the NSG 2021 Winter Championship. The top 3 teams from every monthly since September have qualified, while four teams were directly invited. Now it is time for the 16 rosters to compete against each other for a shot at the $25,000 prize pool distributed between the top 3, with the winner taking home $15,000.

The teams attending the Nerd Street Gamers Winter Championship are:

Group A United States Dignitas (Invited) United States Andbox (Qualified) Canada Built By Gamers (Qualified) United States Sedated (Qualified)

Group B United States Sentinels (Invited) Canada NRG Esports (Qualified) United States Moon Raccoons (Qualified) United States Spacestation Gaming (Qualified)

Group C United States Envy (Invited) United States XSET (Qualified) United States Luminosity (Qualified) United States Team 2D (Qualified)

Group D United States Cloud9 Blue (Invited) United States Equinox Esports (Qualified) United States Project ! (Qualified) United States ex-Serenity (Qualified)

The invited teams; Dignitas, Envy, Sentinels, and Cloud9, are all coming into this tournament bypassing all the competition others had to go through to reach the same point. Sentinels won their last tournament they were part of, the JBL Quantum Cup, and placed top four at First Strike, alongside being the #1 team in THESPIKE.GG’s North American rankings..

Meanwhile, Envy in the JBL Cup ended up in 5th-6th while following their surprising failure to qualify for the First Strike North America Regional Final, Cloud9 Blue definitely have a lot to prove in 2021, and their hunger for trophies might just be the reason they are crowned champions.

XSET signed the Nerd Street Gamers - Monthly October winners at the time, Pretty Boyz. They’ll be one of the favourites outside of the invited teams, having won their most recent event, the NSG x Complexity Invitational. In addition to that, there are several other teams you have to keep your eyes on, namely NYFU, Built By Gamers, Equinox Esports, Luminosity Gaming, and the team that managed to capture the hearts of many, Moon Raccoons.

NSG 2021 Winter Championship promises to be a true spectacle for North American VALORANT, and you don’t want to miss it. Be sure to tune in beginning January 13th on twitch.tv/nerdstgamers, and follow THESPIKE.GG for everything you need to know about the event and more!
