TenZ steps down from competitive VALORANT play

Written By    Germanicus  -  Share:

Cloud9 Blue’s Tyson "TenZ" Ngo has decided to step down from competitive VALORANT play to focus on full-time content creation.

TenZ was one of the first professional VALORANT players signed, when he switched to the game from Cloud9’s Counter-Strike: Global Offensive team before the game was even released. He’s since made a name for himself as one of the best players in North America and the world. While success wasn’t always there for Cloud9 Blue, TenZ was consistently a star.

Always playing duelists, usually Jett, though sometimes Reyna or Raze, TenZ helped Cloud9 Blue to second-place finishes in the Pulse Invitational and the PAX Arena VALORANT Invitational, and third-place spots in the Pop Flash VALORANT Invitational and the Renegades x NSG VALORANT Invitational. By the end of his last competitve event, the JBL Quantum Cup, TenZ boasted stats of 290 ACS, 1.41 KD, and 167.23 ADR. This put him among the very best players in North America in every statistic - leading the way by a massive margin in ACS, also topping the charts in ADR, and taking second place in K/D. In the announcement video, TenZ does leave open the possibility of a return to the competitive scene, though not until the COVID-19 pandemic is more under control and LANs can return.

Cloud9 Blue will sorely miss their cornerstone and will be hard-pressed to find a player to adequately replace him. No matter who it is, though, they’re likely to never be able to match some of the monstrous stats that one of the best players in all of VALORANT offered up during his year of competitive play.

Cloud9 Blue are now:

Mitch “mitch” Semago Skyler “Relyks” Weaver Daniel “vice” Kim Nathan “leaf” Orf (Signing not yet made official)

James "JamezIRL" Macaulay

Too much ego to be an actual pro, you hate to see it
2021-01-12 19:48
TenZ and ego dont go in together in the same sentence
2021-01-13 08:03
I HIGHLY doubt it is an ego thing, he seems to be one of the nicest people on Earth. However, it is always difficult to have the team always be relying on you to pop off. Any teams with the style of "X and co." doesn't win anything

I mean I understand he's a nice guy, but he was benched from every CS roster he was on, because he refused to go with and be a team player, and he was showing the same signs again. He eidn't even let himself peak as a professional before stepping down since he couldn't handle the team environment, but I guess that could also be an age thing.

Only cs team he was benched from was C9 not sure where you got that info.

Doesn't have the mentality to be a pro.
They kicked his friend from the team & he lost his drive to compete, despite him being tacticaly inept in valo (we saw what happened in csgo with him and Daps), he believes thay he should be able to have input on the dos & don'ts within a team, yet he offers nothing of value to the team outside the server. He's a glorified pug player just like Shroud & Aceu, Roca, JasonR & many others.
Best of luck to him in his future endevours
2021-01-13 12:27
Shroud was a team player in cs in his later days - he started out fragging but moved into basically trade bait - he even said on stream he'd die for his teammates any time. Wouldn't say tenz has the same mindset haha
2021-01-14 16:41
I guess you're right, shroud was patient as he did give pro career a chance, his strean was alwyas successful but he enjoyed playing with n0thing, Sean & Ska & in his later days it was him entrying (after the removal of freak).

I agree with your other points tho <3
2021-01-18 15:33
I beg you, agree with everything I say or else my heart will shatter

hahahahah no bby dont do that

Already?
2021-01-14 04:51
I like TenZ and hope to see him succeed in life but I believe that the best thing he could do is go full time streamer,he doesn't seem to be able to compete under pressure nor stay focused for long.
This already happened in CS and it seems to be happening in Valorant too,he just handicapped C9 Blue in a big way

cu at LAN TenZ

rip C9B?🇰🇷🤔

lul true. Who will defend against Marved if he doesn't come back though?
2021-01-14 09:26
This leaves C9 Blue with only 4 members and 1 of them is on trial so how's it going to work for them?
