TSM, Heretics reveal coaching changes
While roster moves are happening affecting the biggest stage in VALORANT, TSM and Team Heretics have announced changes of their own. For the former, Chet “Chet” Singh has come in as head coach, and for the latter, Tanishq “Tanizhq” Sabharwal has been replaced with former FunPlus Phoenix coach Ivan “Johnta” Shevtsov.
Beginning with the first move, Chet comes into TSM as the former coach of NRG Esports. Under his tutelage, NRG would go through a myriad of roster moves and keep themselves consistently in North America’s top 8-10 teams, but never really broke past that barrier. However, he has a long Counter-Strike: Global Offensive resume with Counter Logic Gaming, OpTic Gaming, NRG, Evil Geniuses, and 100 Thieves.
On the Heretics side of things, rumours have been floating around the Spanish scene of internal issues with the team, namely clashes between Taniqhz and Christian "lowel" Garcia Antoran. Tanizhq’s departure was rumoured a while ago, and OG Esports has already been shouted out as a potential destination for the coach that helped make Heretics First Strike champions and Stage 1 Masters finalists.
His replacement, Johnta, was let go by FunPlus Phoenix just a few days ago. According to a Twitlonger he put out, he wasn’t expecting it and felt he had made good progress with the team, but ultimately acknowledged that the end goal, qualifying for Iceland, wasn’t met. Under Johnta’s direction, FPX won Stage 2 Challengers 1 and were labelled as favourites in both Masters 1 and Stage 2 Challengers Finals, but failed to capitalize on that both times.
TSM is now:
James “hazed” Cobb Matthew “WARDELL” Yu Yassine “Subroza” Taoufik Taylor “drone” Johnson Braxton “brax” Pierce
Stephen “reltuC” Cutler (Benched)
Chet “Chet” Singh (Head coach)
Team Heretics now fields:
Melih “pAura” Karaduran Christian “lowel” Garcia Antoran Žygimantas “nukkye” Chmieliauskas Auni “AvovA” Chahade
Dustyn “niesoW” Durnas (Inactive) Ruben “RUBINO” Villarroel (Inactive)
Ivan “Johnta” Shevtsov (Coach) Noel “Noel” Garberi (Coach)
