The date April 7th, 2020 will go down in the history books of as a massive success for VALORANT. As you know, Riot Games, the developer of the brand new FPS released the closed beta to the public on Tuesday, April 7th. But what only some people suggested could happen, was the fact that the game reached just over 1.7 million viewers on Twitch.

Yes, you read that correctly. 1.7 million viewers. That puts VALORANT in second place as the all time record for Twitch peak viewers. To be more specific VALORANT hit 1.73 million viewers, whereas League of Legends (yes, another Riot game) holds the record at 1.74 million total viewers on Twitch.

What surprised a lot of people was the fact that the game even beat out Fortnite’s World Cup viewership which is held at a respectable 1.69 million viewers. VALORANT continues to bring the hype as we start to see a deeper level of gameplay throughout the coming weeks.
