Version1 have announced that Maxim "wippie" Shepelev will be playing with their roster for VCT 2021 - Stage 2 - North America - Challengers Finals. The move was first reported by Ryan Friend.

wippie comes in after trialing for Ghost Gaming. Things went pretty well, with wippie helping bring a new element to Ghost’s game, but ultimately they couldn’t break past their level. Rumours are that Ghost wanted to sign him but couldn’t due to restrictions around him being in America. It seems Version1 have jumped at the chance.

wippie is replacing Keven "PLAYER1" Champagne on the roster. PLAYER1 primarily was the teams Sentinel player, while wippie comes in as a high-fragging Omen, so role shifts may be required. Overall, the move seems positive for V1, but they won’t have things easy. After placing top four in VCT 2021 - Stage 2 - North America - Challengers 1, V1 have qualified straight to Challengers Finals. Thus the event will have massive stakes - a top two finish puts V1 through to VALORANT’s first global LAN, Masters in Reykjavik, Iceland. V1's first match will be against Sentinels tomorrow.

Version1's Challengers Finals roster is:

United States Jordan “Zellsis” Montemurro Canada Erik “penny” Penny Canada Loic “effys” Sauvageau United States Anthony “vanity” Malasplina Russian Federation Maxim “wippie” Shepelev

United Kingdom Ian “Immi” Harding (Coach)
