If you’re interested in political events, you can visit a range of politics prediction market sites. You can buy and sell event contracts on the Democrats, Republicans, and beyond. Choose Yes or No based on what you think will happen.
Prediction market services are regulated by the CFTC. They’re available in many US states. They don’t all cover politics, and those that do may stick to US interests. You can visit sites including Robinhood, Kalshi, and Polymarket. You can download an app or use their website. Use your political knowledge to consider the probabilities and go from there.

It’s important to cover this, so you know exactly what’s involved. Prediction markets cover lots of different topics. That’s why you’ll find sites that cover politics also usually cover sports and economy prediction markets among others. The more variety you find, the more scope you will have to look at other topic areas in future.
When you look at a prediction market topic, you’ll see lots of different event contracts. As an example, we’re getting close to the midterms in the US. We spotted one site where the market predicted a 67% chance of the Democratic Party taking control of the Senate. That’s the Yes outcome in this case.
Now, if you agree with this, you could buy event contracts at $0.67 each. The percentage always gives you the price. You’ll see it clearly displayed on screen. It’s up to you how many event contracts you might want to buy. You should still meet any minimum requirements listed by a specific prediction market service.
Alternatively, you may think the Senate will go to the Republican Party. In this case, you’d go with a No outcome. In our example, it would be $0.33 per event contract.
When the outcome of the event is known, the market will resolve. If your prediction was correct, you would receive $1 per event contract. If you backed the wrong option, you would receive zero. This applies across all other markets, too.
Each political market will display the rules for resolving that market. These may involve a date or an election outcome, depending on what’s happening. In the unlikely event something unusual happens, you’ll see guidance on what will happen in that case, too. An example would be if a planned election didn’t happen.
Politics gets plenty of attention across the US. However, when you’re looking at political prediction market sites, you’ll notice that many of them look at events happening beyond US borders as well.
We’ve looked at political coverage and event contracts across several prediction market sites and apps. You can see some examples of recent and current subject areas here. In each case, the market is buying, selling, and trading event contracts on one topic. You’ll find these in the table below.
| Political Topic Area | Examples of Event Contracts |
|---|---|
| Congress | Potential Government shutdown dates Will certain Acts become law? Will any cabinet member be impeached? |
| Local politics | Will NYC ban horse-drawn carriages? Will there be a change in Minnesota Governor? Will North Dakota officially ban cloud seeding? |
| International politics | Will a meeting of certain world leaders occur? Will traffic move through the Suez Canal? Who might be the next UN Secretary General? |
| US Elections | Who will be the 2028 Presidential election winner? Which individual will be the next Senate election winner? Which party will win the Senate? |
You can see that we’ve included these possibilities in the table. Some sports prediction market sites cover many options as well. Those focus on everything from local teams to international sporting events and occasions.
