About OpenThatPack

Launched in March 2025, OpenThatPack is an online platform that allows you to rip sealed trading card booster packs. From every pull, you can land a card, which you can have shipped to you. Or, you sell it back to the platform for credits and then use those credits to rip more packs.

One of the first things that caught my attention during my OpenThatPack review was the brand’s straightforward interface. Like Clutchpacks, it features a simple layout that makes it easy to shop for and open booster packs. The platform also boasts cards in near-mint condition or higher, so you’re sure of getting quality if you choose to have the card shipped to you.

Like other digital mystery box platforms I’ve used, OpenThatPack runs on the provably fair system. This allows you to verify the authenticity of every rip, using the server seed, client seed, and nonce. Security is also tight, thanks to SSL encryption.

What Can You Rip on OpenThatPack?

OpenThatPack focuses on four main trading card games: Pokémon, Magic: The Gathering, One Piece, and Riftbound. I did not find any traditional sports or other trading card options like what I saw when evaluating Gamestop Power Packs. On the bright side, I’m a big fan of TCG, so I was happy to see the collection.

That said, here’s an overview of the four TCG categories on the platform:

Product TypeAvailableSelection
Pokémon Cards20+ modern and vintage options
Magic Cards10+ packs
One PieceLimited (5+)
RiftboundLimited (3+)

Pokémon

In my opinion, Pokémon cards are the main offerings on OpenThatPack, as it has the broadest selection on the platform. There are packs featuring modern sets and premium collections, along with some vintage-style options.

During my checks, I noticed that the price range for these packs is quite reasonable. Standard boosters and elite trainer box options start at $5, while more premium chase boxes start at $20. The exact pack selection you’ll find varies from time to time, but they include Black Bolt, Pitch Black, Lost Origin, and Evolving Skies.

Magic: The Gathering

Fans of MTG get a lineup that’s tied to Wizards of the Coast’s release calendar. The platform occasionally includes specially curated bundles that increase your chances of landing mythical rares, foils, and showcase variants.

MTG pack prices are also higher than those of Pokémon cards, with collector-style packs sitting on the higher end because of their more premium contents. A few of these packs are Atherdrift, Universes Beyond Assassins Creed, and Ravnica Remastered.

One Piece

Under One Piece, I found more current booster sets, with packs that feature chase leader cards, alternate art variants, and limited-print foils. Like other categories, OpenThatPack attaches prices based on the pack’s content, with the lowest being $7. Some of my favorite picks in this section are The Time of Battle, Adventure on Kamis Island, and The Azure Seas Seven.

Riftbound

Riftbound is the newest addition to the platform, so it’s not surprising that its selection is thinner compared to other TCG booster pack sections. During my OpenThatPack review, I found just three packs in this category: Unleashed, Spiritforged, and Origins, with prices starting from $6. However, this selection is bound to grow later on, so keep an eye on it.

How to Rip booster card packs on OpenThatPack

OpenThatPack aims to replicate the experience of ripping physical trading cards, but this time, you’re doing so online. It runs on an individual pack opening system rather than a shared-break model. As such, you pick a set, pay the listed price, and pull a card all by yourself, instead of doing so with a group of people.

If you’re new to card rips online, know that the entire process is straightforward. Here’s how to go about it:

  1. Click the on-page link to visit the platform and create an account.
  2. Fund your account using one of the supported payment methods.
  3. Navigate to “Shop,” and choose a TCG category.
  4. Pick one of the listed packs.
  5. Click “+” to add the pack to your pack.
  6. Select “Purchase Pack,” and complete the transaction.
  7. Navigate to your inventory, choose a pack, and click “open” to see the card you pulled.

Every pack features a list of cards, which you can view even before purchasing it. You’re sure to win one of the listed cards when you open the pack. Just note that, thanks to the provably fair system, there’s no surefire way of landing a specific card within the pack. One is randomly assigned to you after the rip.

What Can You Do With Your Cards?

There are four things you can do with the cards you get from OpenThatPack packs. You can keep the cards in your inventory, trade them on the marketplace, sell them back to the platform, or ship them. Each one has its approach, as I’ve explained below:

🃏 Keep the cards in your inventory

This is the most basic approach I discovered during my OpenThatPack review. Once you’re not in a hurry to request shipping or to sell back to the platform, simply leave it in your inventory. There are no expiration dates to worry about.

🔄 Trade cards on the marketplace

If you don’t like the cards you pulled, you can trade them for another. To do this, simply visit the “Trade” section and pick the card you like. Under each listed card is the value. You have to select one or more cards in your inventory that are equivalent to or more than the value of the new card you want to get. Once done, you tap “Trade” for the new option to also be added to your inventory.

💰 Sell cards back to the platform

If you want to skip the marketplace altogether, OpenThatPack offers an instant buyback option. This allows you to sell any card you’ve pulled back to the platform for credits. As such, you’re not dealing with listing or waiting for an external buyer. This is where I clearly state that you cannot withdraw the credits you receive from selling back. You can only use them to buy more packs.

📦 Ship your cards

If you want to keep the card you pulled, you can request that the operator ship it to you. OpenThatPack prides itself on premium and fast delivery. It uses UPS Express, and the delivery time ranges between one and three business days, from the moment your order is dispatched. Meanwhile, processing time can vary depending on whether the card is in stock when you submit a shipping request.

Payment Methods for OpenThatPack Deposits and Withdrawals

Whether you prefer fiat or crypto payment methods, OpenThatPack has enough options to choose from. For fiat transactions, you can use PayPal, debit cards, or credit cards. Meanwhile, there are eight cryptocurrency options, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, Dogecoin, and Tether. The minimum limit is $10.

Funding your account is straightforward, thanks to the platform’s user-friendly interface. Here’s how to go about it:

  1. Log in to your account.
  2. Click “+” at the top right of your dashboard.
  3. Select “deposit.”
  4. Enter the amount you want to deposit.
  5. Choose if you want to use a debit/credit card, cryptocurrency, or PayPal.
  6. Provide your payment details and authorize the transaction.

How does withdrawal work?

Earlier, I mentioned that you cannot cash out real money. A withdrawal option does appear when you click the “+” icon. However, if you click it, you’ll be redirected to the page where you can request shipping. From there, you pick the cards you want to ship, enter your details, see the applicable fees, and submit your request.

You don’t have to worry about fees when depositing. The case is different for shipping, as the exact amount depends on your order and location within the US.

Interestingly, if you select cards worth $100 and above, you get free shipping. But there’s a surcharge that applies if your order contains over 50 bulk cards. You’re charged $0.01 per bulk card beyond the first 50 to cover the extra shipping costs. For clarification, bulk cards are those that fall into the rare, common, and uncommon category in both normal and reverse holofoil.

The Cashback and Sellback Bonuses

OpenThatPack does not have a conventional welcome bonus. What it does have are cashback and sellback bonuses. You can read my dedicated review of the OpenThatPack promo code for a detailed breakdown of these programs, but here’s an overview:

  • Cashback: Get a percentage of the amount you spend ripping packs. The exact percentage depends on your level on the platform.
  • Sellback: This gives a portion of the card value you sell back to the site. Like the cashback, the exact percentage varies by level.

The platform occasionally drops free daily packs. You don’t need a special code to claim this, but you might have to meet other conditions first.

Overall Experience of OpenThatPack

OpenThatPack has one of the simplest interfaces I’ve seen on a mystery box site. It features a dark blue background but with bright text that makes it easy to locate tabs. The layout is straightforward. For instance, when you log in, you’ll find the inventory, deposit, and profile icons at the top right, while Shop, Trade, and Rewards are at the top center.

I quickly confirmed that there was no app, but this was not a problem because the website easily adjusts to fit smaller screens. Unlike larger displays that show the primary tabs at a glance, smaller devices feature a hamburger icon at the top right that opens into a menu.

Whether you use a computer or mobile device, you can easily contact support through live chat or by emailing support@openthatpack.com. While email is open 24/7, live chat is available only from 10am to 10pm, Eastern time. On the bright side, you get speedy responses from the customer service agents during operational hours.

In case you’re wondering how to get started on the platform, here’s a simple guide:

  1. Click the banners on this page to launch the website.

  2. Tap “Login” at the top of your screen.

  3. Choose if you want to join through Google, Apple, or by linking your MetaMask wallet.

  4. Deposit and purchase packs.

Is OpenThatPack Legit and Safe?

Before I register on a digital mystery box site, I always check if the platform is legitimate and secure. I used this same approach during my OpenThatPack review. That’s how I learned that the platform is owned and operated by RW.Software LLC, a Texas-based company. While the operator does not have a license, it uses SSL encryption and supports two-factor authentication.

It is also upfront about its operations, from the card-ripping process to the shipping and conditions of every card you pull. For instance, it uses provably fair technology to ensure the outcome of every rip is fair. It also clearly states that all its cards are in near-mint condition or better. I like that the platform does not list cards that are not in stock. The cards in the packs that are listed in the shop section are available and can be shipped to you right after you pull them.

Final Thoughts on OpenThatPack

I thoroughly enjoyed my OpenThatPack review for several reasons. For starters, the platform keeps things simple. Unlike some sites with loads of animations, OpenThatPack has a straightforward interface that makes it a breeze to navigate through different sections. Its focus on trading card game categories is another highlight, especially for collectors like me who are big fans of Pokémon, MTG, One Piece, and Riftbound.

The platform is not perfect. It lacks a standard welcome bonus and regular promotions, has no withdrawal option, and only offers live chat during set hours. However, it makes up for this with cashback and sellback bonuses, multiple deposit methods, seamless shipping processes, and speedy responses when live chat is active.

Overall, OpenThatPack is a platform I recommend checking out if you want a mystery box site that offers a no-frills pack-opening experience. You can click the on-page banners to visit the platform, register, and explore yourself.
