During my research for this Trove review, I observed that the bulk of Trove’s inventory is soccer, baseball, basketball, and football cards. You can choose any of the four sports categories, and Trove orders the cards by level. Trove features seven levels for each of the sports categories: Starter, Booster, Reserve, Premier, Epic, Legend, and Apex.

Non-sport cards

Trove features two non-sports categories: One Piece and Pokemon, both of which feature the same seven levels as the sports cards. The site features a few pretty rare cards, including a #288 Pikachu, which is featured among the chase cards for the Legend pack.

Mechanics

The site displays the chase cards for each category and the odds of pulling one of them. Trove has an “Outcomes” section on every category page that updates in real time, showing the likelihoods of pulling different card types. The Outcomes section doesn’t guarantee any outcomes, ironically, but it gives you a fairly reasonable assessment for what to expect.

Once you lock in your payment for a card pack, the site rips the pack, transparently displays your pull, and instantly adds it to your inventory, allowing you to choose whether to vault, sell, or ship. Trove exclusively deals in online card rips; it doesn’t offer a singles market where you can snag specific, pre-pulled cards.

Note that your pulls are real physical cards you can request to be shipped to your location. However, Trove only offers you 100% of the card’s fair market value for a few minutes after ripping the pack, but you can get a reasonable percentage of the card’s fair market value if you change your mind about keeping it after initially choosing to vault it.
