Jake "Boaster" Howlett and Nikita "Derke" Sirmitev have both signed contract extensions with Fnatic that will keep them on the team until 2025 and 2026, respectively. Fnatic announced the contract extensions the day before their first match in VCT 2022 - Champions Istanbul against 100 Thieves on September 2 in Group D.

Since Fnatic entered VALORANT in February 2021 with the signing of the SUMN FC roster, Boaster has been a part of the company. The squad made its first roster adjustments barely two months after Derke was signed, and since then, he has grown into one of the top players in the world.

“I feel like it’s time to lift a trophy now,” Boaster said during Fnatic’s announcement. “I’d like to be doing some heavy lifting.”

Boaster and Derke have successfully represented Fnatic as a team in a number of international competitions, placing second at Masters Reykjavk 2021, fourth at VCT 2022 - Stage 2 - Masters Copenhagen, and making a playoff appearance at VCT 2021 - VALORANT Champions 2021, among others. Due to COVID, Derke was absent from Fnatic at VCT 2022 - Stage 1 - Masters Reykjavík, and they were unable to even reach playoffs.

Fnatic is among the favorites to win VCT 2022 - Champions Istanbul when it begins. They are one of the most seasoned teams in the scene, having just missed the VCT 2021 - Stage 3 - Masters Berlin - Group Stage. However, they only reached one final, when they were defeated by Sentinels.

Fnatic would not be a surprise to see on the list of partnered teams for the EMEA Global Competition in 2023, even if the organization has already formally stated that Boaster and Derke are the primary tandem moving forward.
