Cloud9 make Korean roster official, add Pavane as Head Coach

After results that weren’t quite what the team was hoping for, Cloud9 Korea have been reforming their roster. Last week, they announced the departures of Kang "Try" Tae-wook, Yoo "Moothie" Seung-woo, and Kim "DoYa" Do-gyeong. Now, they've announced the three players who will replace them on the team: Yu "BuZz" Byung-chul, Son "xeta" Seon-ho, and Lee "HATE" Ye-hun, as well as a coach, Yu “Pavane” Hyeon-sang.

While BuZz and HATE are, for the most part, just regional VALORANT players with success filling in for Cloud9, xeta and Pavane have big histories. xeta was one of Korean Counter-Strike: Global Offensive’s best prospects, finding success in the regional scene with M0nster.kr, Ardeont, and especially MVP PK, before moving to the larger Chinese scene with TYLOO. Unfortunately, that stint didn’t go as well as xeta and Korean CS:GO fans hoped, and after only a few events with the team, xeta retired to play VALORANT.

Pavane has his coaching background in Overwatch. He coached for the organization LW for several years, before getting picked up along with LW Blue to join the Overwatch League’s New York Excelsior. Coming in with little to no expectations and accusations of being a cheap roster, Pavane and the Excelsior dominated Season 1, winning the regular season. Unfortunately, they couldn’t get it done in the playoffs, but Pavane and New York’s names were on everyone’s lips. Pavane coached the Excelsior to a 3rd place finish in Season 2, before joining the London Spitfire, owned by Cloud9, for Season 3. The budget Spitfire squad finished last of the teams playing the season in Asia. His move to VALORANT sees him switch roles in the Cloud9 organization.

Cloud9 Korea have been playing with these roster changes in place for some time, and they’ve proven to be very successful, as their current roster grabbed second place in the Clan Battle Act 2 #3 and won the APE VALORANT Battle. If Cloud9 Korea can keep this momentum up, they’ll find the success they wanted when they initially entered the Korean scene, and possibly be the long-term challengers to the dominance of DRX.

    Cloud9 Korea are:

South Korea Park “Bazzi” Jun-ki South Korea Byeon “Munchkin” Sang-beom South Korea Yu “BuZz” Byung-chul South Korea Son “xeta” Seon-ho South Korea Lee “HATE” Ye-hun

South Korea Yu “Pavane” Hyeon-sang (Head Coach) South Korea Yoon “Autumn” Eu-ddeum (Coach)
