    Envy part ways with mummAy

Envy have announced today the departure of long-standing player Anthony "mummAy" DiPaolo. He had been on the bench since early August, when he made way for the signing of fellow American Jaccob "yay" Whiteaker.

mummAy has been in an Envy jersey ever since the organization’s entrance in VALORANT back in June 2020. He was signed from the former Fluffy Aimers lineup alongside Jake "kaboose" McDonald, Adam "aKis" Kisseberth, Abdo "c4Lypso" Agha, and current in-game leader Pujan "FNS" Mehta, the latter being the only standing member of the original lineup. With Anthony on the active roster, Envy were in and about the top of the North American scene, their most notable results being a first place finish at VCT Stage 1 VCT 2021 - Stage 1 - North America - Challengers 2 and third places at First Strike North America Regional Final and VCT Stage 2 VCT 2021 - Stage 2 - North America - Challengers 1. But the team’s inability to consistently bring home trophies was what cost mummAy his spot, with a 4th place finish at VCT 2021 - Stage 3 - North America - Challengers 1 being his last as an active member.

The American has put up a 1.01 rating and 203 ACS throughout his VALORANT career, primarily as Jett with the Operator. But his inability to have as much impact as is expected from an OPer has seen him start to move away from the duelist. In his recent stint with NYFU on trial, he has picked up controllers Astra and Viper. Will this be a permanent switch and a complete change in his playstyle? Or is this just a glimpse of his versatility going forward? These are only a couple of the many questions fans will get answers to with his next team.

mummAy’s last event was NSG 2022 Winter Championship - Online Open 2 where his Andbox roster went flawless in groups, but fell in the round of 16 to Evil Geniuses. For now, it is still to be seen where the North American will end up going into the new season next year.
