FURIA eeiu on facing his former 100 Thieves teammates: "It was fun; if we play again in the playoffs, I will win"
After two years on 100 Thieves, it did not take Daniel "eeiu" Vucenovic very long to get used to life on his new team. With a brand new lineup to start the year, FURIA won VALORANT Champions Tour 2026 - Americas Kickoff right off the bat, thanks in no small part to eeiu's veteran leadership. Now, their sights are set on qualifying for Masters London as they attempt to reach their second international VCT event of the year.
With their spot in the playoffs of VALORANT Champions Tour 2026 - Americas Stage 1 already booked, eeiu took on his former 100 Thieves teammates in FURIA's closing match of the group stage. After the match, THESPIKE Brazil had the chance to talk to eeiu to discuss facing his former partners, representing Canada at the Esports Nations Cup, and more.
A 100 Thieves Reunion
100 Thieves had been eeiu's home for the past two seasons of the VCT. With countless hours of practice next to Peter "Asuna" Mazuryk, Sean "bang" Bezerra, Matthew "Cryocells" Dylan Panganiban, the Canadian player knew exactly what to expect from 100 Thieves coming into the match. As did they.
"They're still the same players: bang, Cryo, Asuna. They still play the same way as when I was on the team. So it's much easier for me to understand what decisions the opposing team is going to make because I played with them, and I'm sure it's the same for them with me."
In the end, 100 Thieves came out victorious in a hard-fought match that went all three maps, securing their spot in the playoffs alongside FURIA.
Now, FURIA and 100 Thieves find themselves on opposite sides of the Upper Bracket for the coming playoffs, but there is always a chance they will have to take each other on once more further down the road.
Whatever chance he gets to play his former team, eeiu wanted to make it clear he will always enjoy the occasion: "It was fun, honestly. If we play again in the playoffs, I will win. But regardless of whether I win or lose that game, it was a lot of fun, and I hope to have more fun playing with them in the future."
Representing Canada
At the Esports Nations Cup 2026, set to take place in November, eeiu will get the chance to represent not his club, but his country. During the interview, eeiu did not try to hide his enthusiasm: "Honestly, I'm excited."
"I'm ready to win. I'm excited for the Esports International Cup. I think a lot of people will also be excited for the Canada team. I'm ready to win with the Canada team."
Before getting ahead of himself, though, eeiu remains focused on the coming Stage 1 playoffs. For the Canadian player, there is only one path to success at this level of competition: "If you don't do the work, or if you think there's some kind of secret, some kind of shortcut you can take, you won't win the playoffs. I think the secret is that there is no secret."
