Gentle Mates releases entire roster ahead of VCT 2027 season

For Gentle Mates, 2026 was its most successful year in VALORANT. The team finished second regionally and secured its first-ever international qualification with a revamped lineup featuring just one player from its previous roster. However, inconsistent results throughout the rest of the year and internal conflicts led the organization to release the entire roster ahead of the VCT 2027 season.

A fresh start for Gentle Mates

After coming close to winning their first regional title, Gentle Mates secured their first-ever international qualification. VALORANT Champions Tour 2026 - Masters Santiago 2026 was a dream come true for several players making their international debuts, while a Champions winner on the roster finally had the chance to return to the international stage after years away.

However, following their 7th–8th place finish in Santiago, Gentle Mates struggled to find their footing regionally and failed to contend for another international qualification. After a disappointing run, the organization has decided to release its entire roster ahead of the 2027 season.

The entire roster is now free to explore other opportunities on the transfer market. The Gentle Mates roster consisted of:

• Patrik "Minny" Hušek
• Yusuf Emre "Proxh" Tunc
• Martin "marteen" Pátek
• Patryk "starxo" Kopczyński
• Joona "H1BER" Parviainen

Gentle Mates was selected as a VCT partner team for 2027-2028, securing a place in Kickoff and access to various forms of support from Riot Games.

Internal conflicts

In an appreciation post thanking the fans following the announcement, Martin "marteen" Pátek also revealed that the team had been dealing with internal conflicts that he found too difficult to ignore or pretend were not happening.

Although marteen did not go into detail about what had been happening behind the scenes, he focused on the positive memories and expressed his gratitude for everything the fans had done for the team.

Didn't matter if the year was going well or badly, you guys always had our backs and I can't thank you enough to everyone who supported the team this year. I saw all the messages and it warms my heart. It sucks for all the memories to end here, but the internal issues were too much and hard for me to pretend it's okay and just take it. I will forever be grateful to you guys, you were the reason this year was unforgettable.

In September, marteen briefly addressed the issues during Andre "ENGH" Sholokhov’s stream, accusing someone of deliberately leaking information to portray him in a negative light. He also suggested he might reveal more details about the conflicts once his contract expires, potentially shedding more light on the situation if he chooses to speak publicly.

There is still no official information about marteen's future or that of his former teammates. More details may emerge as the transfer market opens on November 2.
