Ludwig x Tarik Invitational 2025 cancelled a day before kickoff

Just a day before the scheduled start of the Ludwig x Tarik Invitational 2025, Ludwig Ahgren has announced that the much-anticipated VALORANT off-season event will not be taking place this year. The news broke unexpectedly during his Minecraft stream, where the streamer confirmed that the fourth iteration of the fan-favorite tournament has been called off.

Ludwig Breaks the News on Stream

“Ludwig x Tarik’s not happening this year anymore,” Ludwig said casually during the stream. He explained that although the event had been one of the more enjoyable projects of his career, logistical and timing issues made it impossible to hold in 2025.

“There’s not any grand reason as to why it didn’t happen… Time gets away from us sometimes. It’s not an easy or cheap thing to set up, and I don’t think me or Tarik would like to do it unless we feel like we can do it right.”

The Invitational was also listed among Riot’s sanctioned off-season events, alongside VCT OFF Season - SEN City Classic 2025 and Red Bull Home Ground 2025 - Main Event, so this news came as a shock to everyone.

Possible Reasons

While no concrete reason was given, part of the speculation centers on scheduling conflicts. The VALORANT Champions Tour 2025 - Game Changers Championship is taking place during the same weekend. Although the two events cater to different audiences and time zones, broadcasts could have split viewer attention.

Others in the community believe the decision reflects Ludwig’s shifting focus away from VALORANT. One Reddit user noted, “LxT was originally because Ludwig wanted events for his VALORANT team after the season ends. Shopify Rebellion doesn’t really feel like his team anymore.”

As of now, the other half of the event's namesake, Tarik "tarik" Celik, has yet to comment publicly on the cancellation. Whether the Ludwig x Tarik Invitational will return next year remains to be seen. But for fans, this off-season just got a little less exciting.
