mindfreak officially leaves Paper Rex
After being with Paper Rex since 2020, the organization has officially announced Aaron "mindfreak" Leonhart's departure. mindfreak’s exit from PRX began back in July 2025, when he was moved to the bench ahead of VALORANT Champions Tour 2025 - Pacific Stage 2 and was given the freedom to explore other opportunities. Now, the longtime Controller has officially parted ways with the org and is looking for a new team ahead of the 2026 season.
A Long Run with PRX
mindfreak first joined PRX and their Counter-Strike roster alongside Khalish "d4v41" Rusyaidee and Jason "f0rsakeN" Susanto, before transitioning to VALORANT in 2021. Throughout his journey, mindfreak has been the Controller player on the squad, helping PRX to multiple regional titles. His contributions were a major factor in the team’s rise as a dominant force in the Pacific region and on the international stage.
Stepped aside
In VALORANT Champions Tour 2025 - Pacific Stage 1 of the 2025 season, mindfreak stepped aside from the main lineup, with Patrick "PatMen" Mendoza taking over his spot. During his time away from the server, mindfreak transitioned into an assistant coach role, supporting the squad through VALORANT Champions Tour 2025 - Masters Toronto 2025 and VALORANT Champions Tour 2025 - Valorant Champions.
Even though he wasn’t on stage, his presence was still felt. Teammates spoke highly of his behind-the-scenes support and guidance, especially during PRX’s run to the trophy in Toronto.
mindfreak also played a key role in helping integrate Patmen into the roster, guiding him through set plays and providing advice during the international tournaments.
Now a free agent
With his departure confirmed, mindfreak is now officially a free agent heading into the Pacific VCT 2026 season. He had already announced his intention to return to pro play after Stage 2, stating that he was eager to compete again.
After taking time to recover from mental health struggles earlier this year, mindfreak has been working on his mindset to get back on stage. Now, he's ready to bring his experience to a new squad.
