Riot Games officially unveils VALORANT Mobile
After years of speculation and leaks, Riot Games has officially confirmed that VALORANT Mobile is real—and it’s coming soon.
The announcement was made via Riot’s official X account, revealing that the mobile version of its popular tactical shooter is being developed in collaboration with LightSpeed Studios, the team best known for their work on PUBG Mobile.
LightSpeed Studios and Riot Games: A Strategic Alliance
Based in Shenzhen, China, LightSpeed Studios (formerly LightSpeed & Quantum Studio) operates under Tencent Games, which also owns Riot Games. Founded in 2011 through the merger of Quantum Studios and LightSpeed, the studio has a strong track record in developing globally successful mobile titles such as PUBG Mobile and Peacekeeper Elite.
Given LightSpeed's pedigree and Tencent's overarching involvement, the partnership makes perfect sense for a project of this scale and ambition. With VALORANT Mobile, Riot is aiming to replicate the tactical precision and agent-based gameplay that made the PC version a massive hit worldwide.
China Gets First Dibs
VALORANT Mobile will launch first in China, with pre-registration officially starting on April 21, 2025. The game appeared on the Huawei App Store under the title Valorant: Energy Operation, hinting at a region-specific name for the Chinese market. Riot has yet to clarify whether this naming will be used globally.
Players who pre-register will receive unique player cards and other exclusive in-game rewards. While there’s no word yet on a global release date, this first step confirms that development is well underway and progressing steadily.
Faithful Adaptation of Core Gameplay
Riot promises that VALORANT Mobile will stay true to its roots. The game will emulate essential mechanics from the PC version, including precision shooting, agent abilities, and strategy-based teamplay. A redesigned user interface and custom controls have been built specifically for smartphones and tablets, ensuring that the gameplay remains fluid and intuitive on mobile platforms.
New Features: Advanced Training Mode and Replay System
Two standout features in VALORANT Mobile are the Advanced Training Mode and the Replay System.
-
The Advanced Training Mode, revealed through leaked gameplay, is tailored to help players master high-skill mechanics like jump peeking—a technique used for gaining information without full exposure. It provides a low-risk environment perfect for both beginners and veterans to refine their skills.
-
Meanwhile, the Replay System allows users to review previously played matches. This tool is ideal for performance analysis, strategy review, and even identifying suspicious behavior for reporting purposes. It underscores Riot’s commitment to fair play and competitive integrity on mobile as well.
A New Era for Mobile Esports
The release of VALORANT Mobile is set to reshape the mobile gaming landscape. Its introduction brings a level of tactical depth rarely seen in mobile shooters, offering potential for serious competitive play.
By bringing strategy-heavy, skill-based FPS gameplay to mobile devices, Riot is positioned to elevate mobile esports to new heights. Much like the PC version, the mobile platform may soon cultivate its own dedicated competitive scene—potentially sparking the next big wave in mobile esports.
As anticipation builds, VALORANT Mobile stands not only as a mobile game release, but as a potential game-changer for the entire industry.
