Riot sends undocumented Chamber buff live with VALORANT Patch 11.02
It looks like Riot Games has left a little surprise for sentinel players and VALORANT enjoyers. In Patch 11.02, the big change came with the title’s swap to Unreal Engine 5.3, which should give most players performance and gameplay boosts. However, a Rioter has confirmed that Chamber has also been given a buff that wasn’t documented in the patch notes.
Chamber's Trademark no longer has a range restriction
Riot TiffyMunchsnax, VALORANT’s agent & live product manager, posted on her X account that Chamber’s Trademark trap no longer has a range restriction. These changes “slipped from the 11.02 patch notes,” but are an intentional change meant to give the agent more flexibility with his positioning. It also solidifies his place within the current state of the sentinel role.
A major shift in Chamber’s viability
This would have been the biggest agent change in Patch 11.02, since most of the changes were agent and map bug fixes, exploit changes, and UI changes. This change should heavily affect how Chamber is played on multiple maps. For example, since Chamber no longer needs to be in the vicinity of his trap for it to be active, he could help bolster a site’s defense without having to be there.
It has been over three years since Chamber received the nerfs on his Trademark, but now, he has been given a huge tool to help staunch the attack of an unpredictable enemy. This could also help boost his play rate, both in solo queue and professional play. Currently, Chamber has a global pick rate of 4.6 percent, but that could rise as players quickly discover how useful he can be with the recent changes.
Players are also wondering if Evil Geniuses’ superstar Jaccob "yay" Whiteaker will start to play Chamber more because of the buffs. The 26-year-old veteran was a menace when Chamber was dominant in the meta, but that was back in 2022 when he was with OpTic Gaming. Could we see the resurgence of El Diablo with these changes? Or are these changes not enough to bring Chamber back into relevancy?
