Shopify Rebellion acquire Version1 roster

Shopify Rebellion has acquired the talented roster from Version1, just in time for their participation in the Game Changers 2023 Championship in São Paulo.

Formed at the start of the year, Version1's formidable lineup was carefully assembled, bringing together skilled players from various organizations. meL and alexis, fresh off a top-four finish with Cloud9 White at the previous Game Changers Championship, joined forces with Noia and sarahcat from XSET and Immortals, respectively. The roster was completed with the addition of the promising talent, florescent, recruited from Misfits Black. The team was guided by the strategic coaching of effys.

Their journey began with a dominant performance in the NA Game Changers Series I, where they didn't drop a single map on their way to claiming the top spot. The success continued into the NA Game Changers Series II, with Version1 once again asserting their dominance and securing first place without a hitch. As they approached the NA Game Changers Series III, Version1 had essentially secured their place in Brazil but aimed for North America's top seed by winning the event. Despite accumulating enough circuit points to attend the Championship, they faced a setback in the grand finals against Evil Geniuses GC, losing 3-1 and missing out on the top seed but securing a spot in São Paulo.

Shortly after their qualification, Version1 decided to transfer their roster to Shopify, sparking rumors of a potential merger with G2 Esports. While Shopify didn't boast the same achievements as Version1 in the Game Changers series, they had their share of successes and challenges in 2023. Their journey included a second-place finish in NA GC Series I and a top-four placement in Series II, albeit with some struggles against Complexity GX3.

Although Shopify didn't accrue enough circuit points to qualify for Brazil on their own, their fortunes changed when Version1 made it to the Championship. Unfortunately, Version1 fell short of winning the event, and Shopify, having released their original roster after a third-place finish in the final North American Game Changers event, swiftly signed the ex-Version1 players and staff. Shopify Rebellion will represent North America alongside Evil Geniuses GC on the global stage in December.
