TALON Parts Ways with Ban and Governor
TALON has announced the departure of two players, Peter "Governor" No and Joseph Oh "Ban" Seung-min, from their VALORANT roster. The organization shared the news on their X account, expressing gratitude for the players' contributions:
"From clutch plays to unforgettable moments, you’ve given it your all in the TALON banner. Thank you, Ban and Governor, for your dedication, passion, and hard work. Wishing you both nothing but success in your next chapter."
A Tough End to VCT Pacific Kickoff
This roster change comes less than two weeks after TALON's 4th-place finish in VALORANT Champions Tour 2025 - Pacific Kickoff, where they were eliminated by Gen.G Esports. While Governor and ban were not the worst performers overall, they struggled in multiple matches, falling to the bottom of the team’s stats in their respective Duelist and Sentinel roles.
Their underwhelming performances may have influenced the organization’s decision to make changes.
A Year of Mixed Results
Governor and ban joined TALON in 2023, alongside Lim You "lenne" Xiang Lionel, to help rebuild a struggling roster that had finished 9th in the VCT 2023 - Pacific League and failed to qualify for VCT 2023 - Champions. Their arrival brought immediate improvements, with the team placing 5th-6th in VCT 2024 - Pacific Stage 1 and 4th in VCT 2024 - Pacific Stage 2.
However, their progress stalled at the end of the year, as TALON finished last in the group stages of VCT 2024 - Champions 2024.
What’s Next?
With the departure of both their Duelist and Sentinel, TALON will need to act quickly to fill these roles during the short break before VALORANT Champions Tour 2025 - Pacific Stage 1, aiming to bounce back and secure a spot at the next VALORANT Champions Tour 2025 - Masters Toronto 2025.
Meanwhile, the fates of Governor and ban remain uncertain. While it would be disappointing to see the duo step away from VALORANT entierly, it seems unlikely given their age and experience. Form can always be improved, and any team looking for skilled players would benefit from adding talent of their caliber to their roster.
