VALORANT Patch 10.06: KAY/O Buffs, Bug Fixes, and More
Riot Games has rolled out VALORANT Patch 10.06, bringing significant buffs to KAY/O, minor adjustments to Yoru and Vyse, and a variety of bug fixes across the board. While most of the patch focuses on refining agent abilities and game stability, the highlight is a new mechanic for KAY/O's flash, making it easier to use effectively in mid-range fights.
Here’s a full breakdown of what’s new.
KAY/O Receives a Flashy Upgrade
KAY/O has long been considered a high-skill agent, with his flashes requiring precise coordination. To make his utility more accessible while maintaining his skill ceiling, Riot has introduced a new bounce mechanic for FLASH/DRIVE:
- Upon bouncing, flashes now begin a 0.8-second windup before popping (with distinct audio and visual cues).
- This will not delay flash activation if it's already close to triggering.
- Underhand flash duration increased from 1.25s → 1.5s.
- Unequip time reduced from 0.85s → 0.6s, allowing faster follow-ups.
- Flash now has a minimap indicator for teammates.
- Increased the range of KAY/O’s “flashing” voice line from 20m → 50m.
- KAY/O’s ultimate NULL/cmd resurrection time has been halved from 3s → 1.5s, making it easier for teammates to bring him back into the fight without being overly exposed.
Yoru and Vyse Adjustments
Two other agents, Yoru and Vyse, have received balance tweaks:
- Yoru’s Fakeout cost increased from 100 → 200 credits to reduce its overwhelming effectiveness at a low price.
- Vyse’s Razorvine duration shortened from 10s → 7s and Shear’s triggered wall duration reduced from 8s → 6s, forcing Vyse players to be more proactive rather than relying on prolonged stall effects.
Improved Player Behavior Feedback
Players who report cheaters will now receive more reliable feedback notifications when a ban occurs, reinforcing Riot’s commitment to maintaining competitive integrity.
Performance Improvements on Sunset
The Sunset map has received CPU optimizations by reducing unnecessary objects that tick each frame, improving overall performance.
Bug Fixes Across Multiple Agents
Patch 10.06 also brings numerous bug fixes for agents like Vyse, Raze, Clove, Deadlock, Breach, Sova, KAY/O, Gekko, Iso, and Tejo. Some notable fixes include:
- Vyse’s Arc Rose animation no longer stops looping when crouched.
- Raze’s Blast Pack will no longer knock back Skye’s Trailblazer or Tejo’s Stealth Drone through walls.
- KAY/O’s downed animation will now properly display instead of sometimes appearing standing.
- Sova and Breach will no longer enter incorrect idle animations after using their abilities.
PC-Exclusive Fixes for Premier Mode
For PC players, Riot has addressed UI overlap issues in the Premier Hub and fixed a bracket update bug during best-of-three matchups in Premier playoffs.
VALORANT Patch 10.06 is a solid quality-of-life update, especially for KAY/O mains who have long struggled with his flash mechanics. The buffs to his flash and ultimate make him a more viable initiator, while the tweaks to Yoru and Vyse keep their power levels in check. As always, Riot will be monitoring these changes closely to ensure balanced gameplay.
