X10 Crit star Patiphan returns to Overwatch

In a move that was apparent for some time now, former X10 Esports phenom Patiphan "patt" Chaiwong has decided to leave VALORANT and return to Overwatch with the LA Gladiators.

The Thai player was key for X10 Crit’s run at the biggest event of the year, VCT 2021 - VALORANT Champions 2021, shocking the world with an unlikely quarterfinals run, after which they were knocked out by eventual finalists M3 Champions. Patiphan had then revealed that that match would be his last in competitive VALORANT, and it was very likely he would make his way back to Overwatch, a game where he had initially made waves as a youngster but did not meet the age requirement to play in the Overwatch League.

Even with a short competitive VALORANT career that spanned from July 2020 to December this year, the Thai prodigy has left his mark on the Asian scene. Most notably, Patiphan has lifted trophies at VCT 2021 - Stage 2 - SEA - Challengers Finals and VCT 2021 - Stage 2 - Thailand - Challengers 1, placed 5th-8th at VCT 2021 - VALORANT Champions 2021 and 7th-8th at VCT 2021 - Stage 2 - Masters Reykjavík, and has won First Strike ESL Thailand Championship 2020 during his stint at FULL SENSE late last year.

His success came to a halt in July this year, when he had to stop playing due to a wrist injury. He received specialized treatment over the next few months and made his return to X10 Crit prior to Champions. Since then, his role as the star has not changed, with the Jett main putting up an impressive 1.12 rating and 244 ACS against tough international opposition over the last 3 months.

Fans will be able to watch Patiphan play in the new Overwatch League season starting 2022.
