XLG Esports has officially announced the signing of Liang "Lysoar" Youhao from Wolves Esports, strengthening their roster ahead of the VCT China 2026 season. The move marks a significant acquisition as they look to build on their successful 2025 campaign.

    A Proven Talent Joins XLG

Lysoar brings substantial international experience to XLG. The 20-year-old played a pivotal role in Wolves Esports' third-place finish at VALORANT Champions Tour 2025 - Masters Toronto 2025, the team's best international result to date. Before joining Wolves in October 2024, Lysoar also spent nearly two years with FunPlus Phoenix, where he qualified for all three international events in 2024, including VCT 2024 - Champions 2024 in Seoul.

Being handily versatile on Controller and Sentinel agents, Lysoar has consistently performed at the highest levels of Chinese VALORANT. His addition fills the gap left by Ran "Viva" Lifan, who recently departed XLG to join Trace Esports.

What this Means for XLG's Roster

The signing addresses key role dynamics within the team. Previously, Colin "coconut" Chung had to shift to Controller duties, a position that didn't look like a natural fit for the once-Initiator player. Although Lysoar spent his last few days on Wolves playing as a Sentinel, he spent a large portion of his time there playing as a Controller as well. With expertise in multiple roles under his belt, XLG gains a kind of player who can seamlessly slot into the roster.

As of now, there are some rumors circulating that XLG are looking to make more roster changes, but there haven’t been any confirmations yet. The main roster now consists of:

    • Arthur "Rarga" Churyumov
    • Teng "happywei" Minwei
    • Colin "coconut" Chung
    • James "NoMan" Man
    • Liang "Lysoar" Youhao
    • Aleksandr "hvoya" Eremin remains as head coach after a contract extension.

    Ambitions for 2026

XLG enters the new season off the back of an incredible 2025. After qualifying for VCT CN after winning VCT 2024 - Ascension China, they managed to win VALORANT Champions Tour 2025 - China Stage 1 on their first try. But their international results left a lot to be desired. And their momentum stifled towards the end of the year. But now with Lysoar's experience and hvoya's proven tactics, XLG is positioning themselves as serious contenders in the competitive VCT China landscape.
