Yes, Bind still exists - Ascent out of featured rotation

It’s been a week since the Ascent map was released, and from today on, it will no longer be considered as a featured map, so all maps have equal chances to get picked. This new map was added to VALORANT on its official launch with a higher pick rate, but now it will be picked equally like all other maps. Riot Games said on the release that new maps will be featured. At first, it was fine, but after a few hours, people were getting Ascent so often, that some started to question if Bind or Split still existed. As always, Riot reacted to the community’s feedback, so maybe in the future new maps won’t be featured for a whole week.

Some players are even asking Riot Games to let them pick maps by themselves, but as we know from other games like CS:GO, some maps would end up not being played at all. The reason why Ascent was featured is probably to let Riot gather some information and feedback about the map, so it will be easier for them to tweak it for players’ liking. For now, the map definitely favors attackers, since it’s very open, especially in the mid area, which makes rotating very difficult. A similar situation is that, when a spike is planted, sites not only have very tight entrances but on top of that attackers can seal doors with the switch which gives defenders even less opportunity to take the site back. Even the defenders’ spawn is not a safe place since it has a long path without any cover from both bomb sites.

What do you think about Ascent? What would you change about this map? Let us know what you think in the comments section below.
