Riot Games are always making their intentions of creating a safe and enjoyable VALORANT experience for everyone clear. This was echoed and emphasized several times since the game’s release, and the latest was their commitment to fighting toxic and sexist comments.

Recently, there was a Reddit thread addressing a similar topic, where a VALORANT player was suggesting not allowing chat or voice restricted players to queue up for ranked games. Luckily, VALORANT’s Senior Producer Ian “RiotBrighteyz” Fielding responded to indicate the team is already working on a similar technology to implement within the next two to three patches.

He continued to mention other possible features coming in the future without having to oblige players to have voice communications to play ranked games. One of the proposed solutions from the community, when VALORANT first released and these issues started to surface, was to introduce a similar system to League of Legends’ Honor levels. This will incentivize players to be more friendly with their teammates.

“We hear you! We will be preventing players who have been penalized with chat and voice restrictions from playing rank in the next two to three patches. We are actively working on the tech, it's taking a little bit longer than anticipated, but we are committed to building it. While we don't want to make it a requirement that you have to use voice comms in rank (some players may not feel comfortable using voice for a variety of reasons) we DO understand that having players who have already proven they can be highly disruptive with active restrictions in your rank games feels unfair, and we want to prevent that from happening in the near future. We'll also have additional comms coming out in the coming months around our overall plans to reduce disruptive behavior and make our penalty systems more robust,” said Ian.
