Europe’s next Ignition Series event is The Vitality European Open hosted by Team Vitality, and on Sunday, July 5, 2020, the teams that will participate were decided by open qualifiers. 8 out of 255 participants in the qualifiers have made it to the main event. The tournament is shaping up to be very exciting and competitive.
The eight teams that will participate are:
Group A G2 Esports FABRIKEN need more DM Apexis
Group B PartyParrots Prodigy bonk bread HUNTERS
The new G2 Esports roster, which is slowly being revealed and is still missing one player, will undoubtedly be the favourites. David “davidp” Prins is standing in as the 5th member for the tournament. But they will face stiff competition from many of these other teams. The Swedish squad of FABRIKEN is shaping up to be one of the best in Europe based on recent performances, as is the CIS lineup PartyParrots. Prodigy’s ever-changing roster includes Damien “HyP” Souville for this tournament, as well as Emir “rhyme” Muminovic and Niels “luckERRR” Jasiek from Ninjas in Pyjamas. Former NiP player bonkar and NiP stand-in Yacine headline bonk.
Team Vitality has also revealed the groups for the event on their Toornament page. Group A’s highlight matchup will be G2 vs FABRIKEN, while Group B, featuring PartyParrots, Prodigy, and bonk, looks to be hotly contested.
With a €15,000 prize pool, having actual teams instead of showmatches, and being officially supported by Riot, this tournament will be one of the biggest yet in Europe. Watch starting this Friday, July 10th, on twitch.tv/vitality, and follow THESPIKE.GG for live scores and updates!
