As the fourth day of VCT 2021 - VALORANT Champions 2021 is the next on the menu, the opening matches have been completed on the third day of action. The fourth-day matches will decide the first-seeders of three groups as we head into the playoffs.

Match 1: Gambit Esports vs Team Vikings at 3:00 PM CET / 6:00 AM PST

The last matchup of the day will be between Gambit Esports and Team Vikings. Gambit Esports, the VCT 2021 - Stage 3 - Masters Berlin - Playoffs champions will be up against the Brazilian giants Team Vikings. Even though it looks like a one-sided competition considering Gambit’s latest achievement, Team Vikings looked great on day one. Especially Gustavo "Sacy" Rossi stepped up for his team and is now holding the best rating in the tournament by far with 1.68. His nearest rival after day one was Yu "BuZz" Byung-chul, who was sitting at a 1.51 rating. It will be an interesting matchup as both teams were on fire lately.

Head-to-head:

These two teams never faced each other before. Even though both of them played on the international stage, we have yet to see them compete against each other.

Players to watch:

Russian Federation Gambit Esports - Ayaz "nAts" Akhmetshin with a 1.27 rating on top of 1.61 K/D, he is one of the most important pieces of the Gambit roster. Brazil Team Vikings - Gustavo "Sacy" Rossi has led day one by holding an incredible 1.68 rating.

Gambit's nAts looks to take down Team Vikings' Sacy to claim their quarter final spot.

Map picks:

Ascent is the most played map for both teams and we may see it today. Gambit had a wonderful Breeze performance against Team Secret that resulted in a 13-0 win. Team Vikings may want to keep that in mind during their preparations.

Match 2: Acend vs Envy at 6:00 PM CET / 9:00 AM PST

North America’s Envy were set to take on Brazil’s Vivo Keyd in the second game of day four, however, with the recent announcement from Riot Games they will now face Acend due to Vivo Keyd using a bug during their match on Breeze. This has set up another EU vs NA battle which is what most people expected to happen in Group A but there is no doubt the fans would've loved to have seen Vivo Keyd vs Envy. Acend were not easily beaten by Vivo Keyd in the opening game, cNed was consistent throughout the series and narrowly edged out by Olavo "heat" Marcelo for the MVP award. Envy also looked solid against X10 CRIT but as favourites to win that battle, they did so with ease. The winner of this matchup will decide the leader of the group.

Head-to-head:

These teams have never faced off against each other but the EU vs NA feud still remains intact as they square up against each other.

Players to watch:

Now this is going to be very exciting, two of the worlds best Jetts on the same server.

Turkey Acend - Mehmet Yağız "cNed" İpek has been very consistent in his previous with a 1.37 rating, 268.5 ACS, and 1.22 K/D. United States Envy - Jaccob "yay" Whiteaker holds a 1.24 rating, and 244.5 ACS with Jett in his hands.

Acend's cNed looks to continue his consitent form when he goes head to head with Envy's yay.
Acend's cNed looks to continue his consitent form when he goes head to head with Envy's yay.

Map picks:

Envy played Ascent 78 times in their history and it was also their pick against X10 CRIT in the tournament. On the other side, Acend will set their sights on playing Bind but they will feel confident going into Ascent, should Envy opt for it as it’s their second highest map rate with a 78.9% win rate..

  • Vladyslav "kiles" Shvets - Cypher, Viper, Killjoy
  • Patryk "starxo" Kopczynski - Astra, Skye, Sage

Match 3: Sentinels vs Team Liquid at 9:00 PM CET / 12:00 PM PST

Group B’s leader will be official after the battle of EU vs NA. Sentinels seemed to struggle against FURIA in their opening game of the tournament. Despite being the absolute favorite in the matchup, they gave away a map to the Brazilian side and they weren’t at their best shape in the last map. However, Team Liquid looked much more consistent against KRÜ Esports. The European side won two maps with scores of 13-5, and 13-8 respectively. Their competition not only decides the leader of the group but also represents Europe and North America’s rivalry which is important for most of the fans.

Head-to-head:

Surprisingly, these two teams never played against each other. Team Liquid and Sentinels competed against many big teams during the biggest tournaments but never drew each other in group stages or upper brackets. This makes the matchup even more interesting, especially with Team Liquid’s latest move on their roster, Nabil "Nivera" Benrlitom.

Players to watch:

Canada Sentinels - Tyson "TenZ" Ngo is one of the best players on the stage right now with a 1.31 rating and 266.3 ACS in his previous game. Belgium Team Liquid - Nabil "Nivera" Benrlitom, brother of “Mr. One Tap” has stepped up for his team with a 1.38 rating and 249.5 ACS against KRÜ Esports.

Sentinel's star man TenZ will look to put an end to Team Liquid's new boy Nivera's LAN debut good form.

Map picks:

Sentinels picked Breeze against FURIA yesterday but also stole an important Ascent win. Team Liquid’s map choice was Ascent against KRÜ Esports. We might see Ascent and Haven as both teams played it and the third map will be decided according to their game plans.

Agents:

Sentinels

  • Tyson "TenZ" Ngo Jett, Reyna, Raze
  • Shahzeb "ShahZaM" Khan Sova, Jett
