"Alecks is the best coach I've had" - Paper Rex Invy on winning his first Pacific trophy
Paper Rex capped off a dominant VALORANT Champions Tour 2026 - Pacific Stage 1 campaign with a clinical 3-0 grand finals sweep over FULL SENSE, and for Jiggs Adrian "invy" Reyes, the victory marked a deeply personal milestone, winning his first-ever VCT trophy. Speaking exclusively to THESPIKE in a post-match interview, the Filipino Initiator opened up about the emotional weight of the win, his evolving role within the PRX system, and what comes next on the road to Champions.
"It Doesn't End Here"
For a player who has carried the weight of expectations through one of the most competitive regional leagues in VALORANT, finally lifting the Pacific trophy clearly meant everything. But Invy wasn't about to stop there.
"It feels really amazing. Finally, I got a Pacific trophy. It doesn't end there—it's the first of many. Hopefully, I get the Masters or even the Champions. We're rooting for the Champions trophy."
The sentiment reflects a PRX mentality that has become well-known across the Pacific: restless, ambitious, and never satisfied with just one achievement. The team had its share of turbulence throughout the stage, but found a way to claw back, as they so often do, and deliver when it mattered most.
The Lower Bracket Is a PRX Tradition
Paper Rex's lower bracket runs have become something of a hallmark for the organization, and this stage was no different. For Invy, still relatively new to the PRX environment, navigating that pressure could have been daunting, but he credits his teammates and coaching staff for making the journey manageable.
"I have really good teammates that are there to help me out. I also have the best coaching staff to help me out whenever I have a problem. Whenever I'm losing confidence or I'm in a bad spot individually, they're there to help me."
His composure in high-stakes situations was evident across the playoff run. Rather than crumbling under the weight of the lower bracket, Invy leaned into the structure around him and delivered disciplined performances that kept PRX's campaign alive.
The Initiator Who Can Also Frag
Invy's role within Paper Rex is clearly different from his previous team setups, where he was once the standout stat-padder. PRX is built on a collective system and he has embraced the shift wholeheartedly.
"In this team, everyone's so good, so I'm just there to do my job—to arrange the players, calling for them in the right place mid-round and making sure everyone's aligned. They've been fragging out. I don't really need to do much, so I'm really happy."
That said, Invy is no passive player. During the grand finals on Lotus, he turned heads with a crisp 3K featuring clean one-taps, reminding everyone that his mechanical ceiling is just as high as his teammates'. When asked to rate himself against the fraggers on his roster, he was confident: "I think everyone's on the same level of skill. If I'm given more opportunities to frag out, I think I will as well." Knowing when to support and when to step up, he says, is one of his strongest traits, and one that coach Alecks has helped him refine.
Life Under Alecks: Tough Love, Real Results
Few topics generated as much candid insight as Invy's relationship with head coach alecks, whose fiery sideline demeanor has become widely discussed in the community. Invy didn't shy away from the reality of it but framed it with genuine admiration.
"We get scolded a lot in practice. We get criticized a lot. That's just him taking his job seriously. Honestly, I feel like Alecks is the best coach I've had so far."
He went further, pointing to a key shift that made the difference in Vietnam:
"The last days here, our matches have been totally different. We've been communicating and following what he wants us to do. I guess that's the difference."
The implication is clear that when PRX buys into the system alecks and assistant coach Wendler built, the results follow.
Respecting FULL SENSE and Reading the Veto
On the opponent side, Invy pushed back on the "mini-PRX" narrative that had circulated around FULL SENSE throughout the tournament. He acknowledged their talent while making clear that PRX had done their homework.
"I think they're very talented players. Copying us—their playstyle is very different from us, but they have the right players. Props to them; they made it to the Grand Finals with the same comp, and I'm very impressed."
PRX weren’t surprised by the map veto either. FULL SENSE's Ascent ban was expected given their playoff pattern, while their Split ban was read as a sign of respect to PRX, acknowledging that the Princes of Pacific on Split remain one of the strongest sides in the region.
Pistol Rounds, Vietnam Food, and a Date with FUT
Invy was honest about the pistol rounds, which were a visible weakness on the day. "It's a lot of individual mistakes. It's easily fixable. We've done it before and we can fix it again for London especially." The team's gun round dominance ultimately proved decisive regardless, but it's a clear area to address before the international stage.
On the lighter side, Invy revealed that Vietnam may have played a small but meaningful role in the team's form. With food options far more familiar compared to what they usually get in Korea, the squad was simply happier, and it showed in their play.
Looking ahead to Masters London, while the broader PRX camp has G2 Esports circled on their radar, Invy has a different target in mind: Turkish powerhouse FUT Esports.
"We're going to fight G2 no matter what, we already know it. But for me, I actually really want to go against FUT. I think they have really good players mechanically, and I just want to see how good they are in the server."
However, with FUT going to London as the third seed from EMEA, he may not get a chance to face them at all.
With a Pacific title secured and London on the horizon, Paper Rex—and Invy—are just getting started.
