Apeks shuts down VALORANT operations
Apeks has announced that they are pausing their VALORANT operations and shutting down their team. After a disappointing year in the VCT, exiting without a single win, the organization no longer feels the investment is worth their time.
A Rough 2025 Season
Apeks became the first team to be relegated from VCT in 2025, failing to win a single match across the regional tournaments. They were the most recent team to join the league via Ascension and the first to exit. Following their early elimination in Stage 2, the team released its entire roster, looking to rebuild. That rebuild is now cancelled.
Promised a Two Year Slot
Apeks earned their spot in VCT EMEA after winning VCT 2024 - Ascension: EMEA. According to the organization, they chose to invest in the VCL 2024 season based on the understanding that promotion to the VCT would guarantee a two-year slot. However, after winning Ascension and joining the top-tier league, Riot reduced it to a one-year slot. That change forced a shift in Apeks' long-term plans for 2025 and heavily impacted their future in VALORANT.
Saying Goodbye
The decision is final: Apeks is pausing its VALORANT operations until the organization feels it’s the right time to return. Although they initially felt confident about building a new roster for the 2026 VCL, they ultimately decided to step aside. Apeks ended their announcement with a farewell and a hope to return in the future.
Two New Ascension Teams Incoming
With both Apeks and KOI being relegated during the 2025 season, two new teams will ascend to take their place in the VCT. The VALORANT Champions Tour 2025 - Ascension EMEA season will bring fresh faces and new orgs into the spotlight while Apeks steps away from the EMEA VALORANT scene for the foreseeable future.
