End of an era: Boaster parts ways with Fnatic after five years

November 6, 2026, will go down as a dark day for Fnatic, as the organization says goodbye to one of its most iconic figures in esports, Jake "Boaster" Howlett. After five years as the team's in-game leader, professional dancer, and driving force behind Fnatic's efforts in VALORANT, Boaster is parting ways with the organization to embark on a new adventure ahead of the VCT 2027 season.

A five-year legacy with Fnatic

Boaster and Fnatic have been through so much together. Through the highs and lows, they built one of the most memorable legacies in VALORANT and esports as a whole.

It was hard not to smile around him, whether he was showing off a new K-pop choreography ahead of a tournament or bringing his usual energy to the team, even when results weren't going their way. His personality and sense of humor made him an unforgettable presence, both on and off the server.

After two international titles, three regional trophies, and five years of history, Boaster is officially leaving Fnatic. While the decision may not come as a complete surprise to fans, considering the team's struggles to deliver results over the past two seasons, it still marks the end of a remarkable era for the organization.

Boaster shares an emotional farewell with Fnatic fans

The farewell video was an emotional rollercoaster, but Boaster also took the time to address the fans directly, thanking everyone who had supported him and the different iterations of Fnatic throughout his time with the organization.

"End of an era. I feel blessed to have shared these years of my life with amazing teammates/staff who believed and trusted in me. With fans who supported us through good times and hard times. The original boys(sumnfc) who decided to join an unknown IGL with a dream. My family who supported me and who would always be there if I failed. And lastly, Yinsu who whipped me into shape, got me disciplined and who believed I could do it sooooo much, she paid for rent until I got signed!(Talk about pressure!)"

"I won’t forget these years at Fnatic and I hope you won’t forget them too. I’ve always wanted to make history within esports but upon reaching this point, I realise I much prefer creating memories with those I love and those I have fought with side by side. Ah shit I’m tearing up again broooooo."

"Anyway, I wouldn’t have been able to do it without all the people I’ve met along the way in life teaching me. The journey is not over but my time at Fnatic is… It’s impossible to write everything in one tweet so I will post a video soon to speak about it more. Thank you for the opportunity. I’ll miss it deeply."

Boaster becomes the third player to leave the roster, following Austin "crashies" Roberts and Emir "Alfajer" Beder. His next destination remains unknown, although rumors suggest he could be heading to another European organization. This move marks the beginning of a new chapter in his career.
