Americas first seed G2 Esports have been eliminated from VALORANT Champions Tour 2025 - Valorant Champions following their 1-2 series loss against Pacific fourth seed DRX.

It was the series that shocked the entire VALORANT community. All throughout 2025, G2 had been seen as a contender at every single global event. They won every domestic trophy, and finished 2nd at VALORANT Champions Tour 2025 - Masters Bangkok 2025 along a top-four finish at VALORANT Champions Tour 2025 - Masters Toronto 2025. However, history repeats itself once more as it’s another 7th-8th place finish for G2 Esports at VALORANT Champions, and another disappointment.

DRX knock G2 out of Champs

G2 Esports grabbed the early lead in the series after a dominant 13-7 performance on their map pick of Lotus. The second map of Abyss showcased another close battle between both teams. While DRX grabbed an early 8-4 lead, G2 were able to climb back in the second half to bring the scoreline to 10-8 in their favor. However, Abyss ultimately went in favor of DRX as they grabbed the final five rounds to bring the series to one final decider on Bind.

DRX carried on the momentum gained from the final rounds of Abyss as dismantled G2 in the first half, taking a gigantic lead of 10-2 in map three. While G2 were trying their best to mount a comeback on Bind, DRX planted the finishing blow, sending home the Americas first seed.

    What’s next for G2?

G2 Esports’ 2025 season is officially over as the team is now forced to look towards 2026 for a chance to win its first international trophy. For now, G2 will retain their spot in the VCT Americas 2026 due to meeting the initial requirement for Ascension teams of qualifying for VALORANT Champions.

For now, VALORANT fans should be sure to tune in for the rest of VALORANT Champions Paris as the tournament comes to an end on October 5, 2025, crowning this year's World Champions.
