G2 Esports Crowned VCT Americas 2025 Stage 1 Champions
After a month of relentless competition and electrifying matches, VALORANT Champions Tour 2025 - Americas Stage 1 has drawn to a close, and for the second time this year, G2 Esports have emerged victorious. The team’s emphatic 3-1 victory over Sentinels in the Grand Finals not only secured them the championship title but also etched their name into the history books as the first team to claim back-to-back trophies in the region.
G2’s return to the top comes just months after their narrow miss at an international title in VALORANT Champions Tour 2025 - Masters Bangkok 2025. With Masters Toronto on the horizon, G2 will be aiming to carry their momentum onto the global stage. For now, though, the squad can take a well-earned break, having cemented themselves as the undisputed kings of the Americas.
A Grueling Path to Redemption
G2’s journey through the playoffs was anything but straightforward. After falling to Sentinels in the opening round, their VALORANT Champions Tour 2025 - Masters Toronto 2025 hopes hung by a thread. The loss forced them into a brutal Lower Bracket run, where every match was do-or-die.
Their first test came against 100 Thieves in a nail-biting three-map series, where G2 narrowly avoided elimination thanks to an overtime win in the final map. Next came Evil Geniuses, who pushed G2 to the edge once more, only for the future champions to clutch another high-stakes decider.
Building on those hard-fought wins, G2 took down MIBR and their star duelist Erick "aspas" Santos in the Lower Bracket Final. By the time they reached the Grand Finals, the team was firing on all cylinders. With revenge on their minds and a point to prove, G2 dominated Sentinels across four maps to complete a stunning lower bracket sweep and reclaim their throne atop the Americas.
Setting a New Standard
G2’s title win is more than just another trophy - it’s a milestone for the VCT Americas region. Since the start of the franchising era in 2023, the region had crowned five different champions across five different regional events. That streak ends now, as G2 become the first organization to go back-to-back in regional competition.
Much of that success can be attributed to the red-hot form of Trent "trent" Cairns, whose performances have elevated the team throughout Stage 1. The North American star picked up his second MVP award in the Americas, putting up jaw-dropping numbers in the Grand Finals. Thus cementing his status as one of the most dominant players in the world right now.
Next Stop: Toronto
With the Americas now firmly in their grasp, G2’s attention will soon shift to the international stage once again. The disappointment of Masters Bangkok still lingers, and while the squad may have been eyeing a rematch with T1, the Korean team’s elimination at the hands of Paper Rex has taken that possibility off the table.
Instead, G2 will look to continue their streak against the rest of the world’s best at Masters Toronto. Having proven themselves as the strongest team in the Americas, the next challenge is clear: turn regional dominance into global glory.
