Gen.G Esports reveal a VALORANT squad

Gen.G Esports, an organization that is well-known worldwide for its achievements in League of Legends and CS:GO has announced today its entrance into the VALORANT esports scene.

“Our main focus when identifying the right VALORANT team was to find players who are hungry to grow as a team and already possess the proper fundamentals required for a tactical shooter game. It was less important for us to go with widely known, big names from other games since we expect the meta in VALORANT to change more frequently than other current FPS games. We believe a dominant team could easily fall off with each meta shift if they are not prepared to put in the time and effort required to adapt. Player adaptability and eagerness to learn were major factors in our search,” tells us Andrew “Blank” Leverette, Performance Coach of Gen.G Esports.

The South Korean-based organization has decided to acquire a full Canadian squad that is formed by the players with previous experience in another famous FPS game, CS:GO. Keven “PLAYER1” Champagne, who is taking the role of the team’s captain, has played in the past together with two fellow teammates, Loic “effys” Sauvageau and Anthony Guimond “gMd” Lavoie, in the ESEA MDL league. The latter also had a chance to play on the professional level under the wings of Rogue. The remaining two players are Danny “HUYNH” Huynh and Michael “MkaeL” De Luca who also participated in various online tournaments dedicated to Valve’s first person shooter.

“I expect VALORANT to grow huge, I can see it's potential. The League of Legends esports scene is successful and I have no doubt Riot will support VALORANT. Even with the number of abilities within the game, I think it's really easy to watch and understand what's going on as a spectator,” says the captain of the team, Keven “PLAYER1” Champagne.

The team will have its very first test today, during the next edition of the tournament hosted by another known organization, T1. The T1 Invitational starts today at 10:00 AM PT / 7 PM CEST.

“Our goal as a team is to be the best. There's a lot of ex-CS:GO pros coming into VALORANT who have a lot of experience, but we're hungry to thrive,” adds Champagne.
