After Sentinels's defeat to KRÜ Esports in VALORANT Champions Tour 2026 - Americas Stage 2, the match capped off a Sentinels season that was previously unseen during the partnership era of VALORANT Esports: an entire competitive season where Sentinels did not participate in a single international VCT event.

For an organization defined by championship expectations and international success, falling short of every global event in 2026 marked uncharted territory. The heavy silence post-match at the Riot Games Arena made that reality impossible to ignore.

Stepping into the spotlight midway through the season joining a Sentinels roster going through a rebuild, rookie Gurjiwan "Jerrwin" Gill experienced the pressure and rapid adjustment required at the highest level of competitive VALORANT.

THESPIKE sat down with Jerrwin to get his thoughts on playing for Sentinels in his rookie year, the team's 2026 season, and more.

Coming into the middle of the season is never easy. Starting from Tier 2, then having to come into a new environment is definitely an adjustment, but I'm still grateful that I was able to get the opportunity. There was an alternate world where I just sat at home and played Tier 2 the whole year... I would take this any day of the week.

The loss to KRÜ Esports proved to be extremely challenging. For Jerrwin, facing the Latin American squad had become a recurring roadblock across Stage 2.

"Not a lot of thoughts to be honest. Just frustrated," Jerrwin said. "For some reason versus this team, I always seem to struggle. Past two times I've played them, just can't seem to get anything going. It sucks to go out like that."

Behind closed doors, the mood within the Sentinels team was somber, but there were still positives to take from the entire year. Despite poor results throughout Stage 2, the roster continued to grind and find solutions instead of giving up.

It's not going to be a whole lot of smiles in the room obviously after a loss like that, but I don't think anyone's leaving with much regret.

Everyone put in so many hours, so much work this year... We go on a three-loss streak, four-loss streak, and no one's demotivated. Everyone kept working.

For the young rookie, the hardest part wasn't the early elimination in the Play-Ins, but the feeling of letting down veteran teammates and his tireless coaching staff.

At least for me personally, I just felt bad for the coaches who obviously would put in maybe like 12 to 14 hours a day, and all my teammates.

I came in looking at my teammates being Jonah, John, and Cortez who I was watching all of last year go to internationals... so then I'm just sorry to them that they weren't able to keep winning this year.

You can watch the complete interview with Jerrwin below:

Despite the season's disappointing conclusion, Jerrwin's debut season under the spotlight provided invaluable experience - from learning how to handle the heightened expectations of the Sentinels fanbase to performing on the main stage.

"Coming in, the (Sentinels) fans expect a lot. There's a lot more talk around your name when you're on this team. So having to get used to all that, trying to ignore it, making sure it doesn't affect me any way when I'm playing," he noted.

I'm super grateful that my first year in Americas was with such an iconic org like Sentinels. Just no regrets there.

Heading into the 2027 offseason, questions naturally linger over potential roster moves and changes to the entire VCT system. Yet for Jerrwin, the drive to compete at the top never changes.

I'm confident in my ability to come back. I'm not sure if it'll be with Sentinels, if it's with another team, Tier 1, Tier 2... but regardless, I still have that hunger to get better and come back.
