JECRC University crowned India's first VALORANT Campus Cup champions
India's inaugural VALORANT Campus Cup has concluded, and JECRC University, Jaipur lifted the national title at the Grand Finale held on March 30–31, 2026. Hosted at the JioGames Innovation Centre at Chitkara University, Punjab, the two-day event saw JECRC University defeat PES University, Bangalore in the deciding match, cementing their place in Indian collegiate esports history.
A Tournament Built for Scale
The program, a collaboration between Riot Games and JioGames, registered 2,500 individual players and 512 teams across campuses nationwide before narrowing down to 32 institutions at the Grand Finale.
Combined online and offline viewership reached approximately 90,000 across broadcast channels, with all matches streamed live on the JioGames platform. A ₹5,00,000 (approx. $5,400) prize pool rounded out the stakes, with the national champions taking home ₹2,50,000 (approx. $2,700), ₹1,50,000 (approx. $1,600) for runners-up PES University, and ₹1,00,000 (approx. $1,070) for third place.
What It Means for Indian Grassroots Esports
The tournament's ambition extended well beyond the numbers. Speaking on the programme, Anushka Bhatnagar, Publishing Lead at Riot Games, highlighted the competitive maturity on display:
"What stood out was the level of preparation and competitive mindset players brought to the tournament. Campuses are increasingly becoming the starting point for the next generation of VALORANT talent, and VCC showed how strong that pipeline can be when given the right platform."
Bhatnagar added that Riot's focus going forward is on "strengthening the grassroots ecosystem, building clearer pathways, and more opportunities for players to compete and grow."
A Foundation for What Comes Next
The VALORANT Campus Cup is built around a straightforward mission: meet players where they are, give them a structured competitive format, and deepen the game's cultural presence at the ground level. With its inaugural edition now in the books, the VCC has laid a credible foundation for collegiate esports in India and gives the next wave of VALORANT talent a real stage to prove themselves.
