KRÜ Less: "My goal is to be on a team that can play together for years"
It had been over a year since KRÜ Esports star Felipe "Less" Basso last stepped inside the VCT Americas studio.
The VCT 2025 season saw Less compete in the VCT EMEA region for Team Vitality where expectations were set on the team to dominate the region. At first, the team did exactly just that. They dismantled the entire EMEA region and finished fourth at VALORANT Champions Tour 2025 - Masters Bangkok 2025. However, since their exciting entry in 2025, the team struggled to regain that spark as Vitality missed out on both VALORANT Champions Tour 2025 - Masters Toronto 2025 and VALORANT Champions Tour 2025 - Valorant Champions.
Throughout the VCT 2025 season, many things continued to go wrong within the Team Vitality camp. The team found themselves making constant changes between stages as Less found himself playing on survival mode by the end of his time in Europe.
“To be honest, on Vitality, it was more like surviving inside the game,” Less said. “The company, the organization was amazing, and I love it. My teammates, my coaching staff were also great. It was hard inside the game because we were changing rosters and so the focus was on the new players and I was just there surviving trying to help everyone, but it was really hard."
The entire VCT 2025 season saw Less struggle to find domestic success after the team’s appearance at VALORANT Masters Bangkok. Despite playing fine throughout the season, he admitted to having struggles to try and make a deeper impact in Team Vitality due to a mixture of language barriers and the team’s constant changes.
So once it was revealed that Less would not be staying with Team Vitality heading into the VCT 2026 season, he looked to find a new team; only this time, he went in search of a team that could capture the new characteristics and traits that Less wanted with his next squad.
Why Less came back to VCT Americas
Deciding on what would be Less’ next steps as a pro VALORANT player came with several factors that he wanted to figure out.
However, one of the key contributing factors towards ultimately picking his team came from trying to figure out what organization and team he could build something in the long-term.
“To be honest, my goal is to be on a team that can play together for three, four years,” Less said. “I see some teams like Paper Rex and Fnatic that play with the same roster, maybe one or two changes, but they keep the roster and that’s something that makes it easier to maintain a good level.”
Prior to joining Team Vitality, Less had played under the LOUD brand for three years alongside current KRÜ Esports in-game leader Matias "Saadhak" Delipetro. There, the team found success on the international stage with multiple top-four finishes alongside a victory at VALORANT Champions 2022. At the time, Less was only 17 years old, trying to prove his place as a pro. Now, as a World Champion, the next step is trying to create something bigger and sustainable for years to come.
“I would really like to be on a team like that, where I can stay for three years, feeling secure, improving along with the whole team.” Less said. “Feeling that we are a good team, with ups and downs, but continuing to be a good team that can reach Champions and wins.”
Less’ time with Team Vitality came with a lot of learning lessons that he carries to this day, and it is what truly solidified his opinion on how great players are made.
“You can see a lot of players that are playing really good, but if they go out, they don’t play well on their next teams,” Less said. “You can see players that are really good, but they don’t play well and are no longer winning, but if they stay on a good roster, they become legends. A team can really change how good a player can be.”
Currently, Less and KRÜ Esports are off to a great start in Group Omega with a 2-0 record. After visa issues kept KRÜ from playing with their intended lineup all throughout VALORANT Champions Tour 2026 - Americas Kickoff, the team is poised to make a deep run in Stage 1.
It will be interesting to see if KRÜ can maintain their strong form throughout VCT Americas Stage 1 as they pursue qualification for VALORANT Masters London. After a year away from the VCT Americas league, Less’ intentions are deadset on being able to rekindle the magic he found earlier in his career and build something special once again.
For now, Less and the rest of the KRÜ squad will take it one step at a time as they prepare for their next opponent, FURIA, in week three of VCT Americas Stage 1.
