Following the conclusion of Paper Rex’s loss against Leviatán, we interviewed Jason "f0rsakeN" Susanto to get his thoughts on the team’s subpar performance in the matchup, as well as the factors in the team’s gameplay that could benefit from improvement. Without further ado, let’s dive right into the questions.

THESPIKE.GG: How are the team’s spirits after the unfortunate loss early in the tournament?

f0rsakeN: While the loss was extremely upsetting, we still have a chance to qualify for the Playoffs, so the team hasn’t given up hopes just yet.

THESPIKE.GG: Over the course of both maps, Paper Rex failed to take a single Pistol Round? How crucial do you think that factor was in contributing towards your loss?

f0rsakeN: Personally, pistol rounds are very important in building the team’s momentum and not being able to take a single one granted Leviatan the advantage each time a half began.

THESPIKE.GG: On both maps, Paper Rex’s Offense had a plausible performance, but the Defense suffered severely. Was the Leviatan Attack too overwhelming or were there vulnerabilities in your team’s strategies?

f0rsakeN: We had studied Leviatan’s Offense coming into the matchup and were well-aware of their aggression. However, our aim wasn’t as sharp, which caused several gunfights to go the other way.

THESPIKE.GG: Paper Rex looked extremely comfortable in the first match against EDward Gaming. What was different this time around?

f0rsakeN: Today, we had a serious tone and were extremely focused, perhaps a little too much to even enjoy playing the game. On the opening day we felt relaxed and had a lot of fun competing against EDG, which made our comms considerably more effective.

THESPIKE.GG: How do you feel about the team’s utility usage? Did they factor into your loss as well?

f0rsakeN: I believe our utility usage was acceptable, but our comms and aim could definitely improve for the next match.

THESPIKE.GG: On that note who do you think will your opponents be, Team Liquid or Edward Gaming?

f0rsakeN: Since EDG are competing in their first LAN, they might not be as comfortable competing and Team Liquid being significantly more experience have a better chance to leave the matchup as the winners. So, I think we will be facing off against Team Liquid.

THESPIKE.GG: Before we conclude, Benkai mentioned in the Pre-Event Press Conference that the team did not have enough time to prepare for the event as much they would’ve like to. What are your thoughts regarding that statement?

f0rsakeN: It is true. There’s a lot of content that we produce for Paper Rex and balancing that with practicing for competitive play is extremely tiring and can often result in compromises made in our practices.
