SunSister reveal two VALORANT squads

Alongside North America and Europe, Japan is probably the most developed scene right now in terms of VALORANT teams being signed to professional esports organizations. JUPITER was the first from that region to enter the competitive environment of the new Riot Games’ FPS, on the same day as the closed beta was launched.

SunSister is another organization from Japan that decided to invest in the establishing scene. Earlier this month, on June 6th, 2020, SunSister revealed its first division called SunSister Rapid after searching for the recruits at the end of May and promising them at least ¥100,000 JPY (~ $932 USD) monthly salary. At the same time, it was also revealed that the second squad will be announced in the coming weeks.

Eventually, the organization decided to acquire players active on the local scene with previous experience mostly in CS:GO. The squad consists of Kazuki “EROC” Nakatani and Yusuke “NoriseN” Shima, who were playing before in a squad called Updraft. Together, they took part in GALLERIA GLOBAL CHALLENGE 2019 in September last year and finished in 3rd-4th place. Shima also had a short stint in another Japanese organization, DeToNator. The next members of the squad are Takamasa “kreamer” Suzuki and “Peasy” who, similar to the previously mentioned players, were playing together and represented Team Sokuseki (即席) before. The last member rounding up the SunSister Rapid roster is** Kenji “AmeKen” Hisano**, who, unlike the rest of the members, has previously played PUBG, Dota 2, and, most recently, Overwatch professionally. AmeKen participated in the Incheon Qualifier to the Overwatch World Cup 2018 as a part of the national team of Japan while being signed to CYCLOPS athlete gaming at that time. Later on, he was also playing for JUPITER, which is currently also having representation in VALORANT as was mentioned before.

The second squad, called SunSister Dive, was announced on June 14th, 2020, and is formed by less popular players from the Japanese scene. Similar to the first announced roster, this line-up also consists of individuals who played CS:GO before in the domestic scene. In SunSister Dive, we will see Army, nagi, Sakura, Whim, and 2525hunter.

The Japanese teams will have the chance to enter a more serious competition, as Riot Games announced the first events that will be a part of the newly launched VALORANT Ignition Series, with the two being held in Europe and Japan. The RAGE Invitational in Japan is scheduled for June 19-21, 2020.
