Not having enough time for 1 last game: a problem that almost every VALORANT player is bound to have experienced at least once. Thankfully, this issue has come to the attention of the VALORANT team. Their solution? Swiftplay.

Whether it’s not wanting the commitment of a full competitive or unrated game, or whether you’re a spike rush player looking for a slightly more structured mode to play. The mode is intended to be a long-awaited change of pace that features the fast-paced fun element of short modes such as spike rush, but mirrors the structure of a standard unrated match. Swiftplay features the same 5v5 attack versus defence format with a change of sides at the half way point

Instead of being the first team to reach the usual 13 round wins, it is condensed to just 5 rounds to win, with each half featuring 4 rounds of play – a best of nine format. The credits given to each team at the start of the rounds are as follows:

    Round 1 – 800 Credits

    Round 2 – 2400 Credits

    Round 3 – 4250 Credits

    Round 4 – 4250 Credits

As well as the reduced number of rounds, an extra 2 ultimate points are given to every player at the start of each half to speed up the rate at which these game-changing abilities can be acquired. The kill and plant bonuses from the unrated/competitive structure in which extra credits are awarded for certain events (+200 per a kill, +300 if spike is planted). The retention of this feature into the shorter mode leads it to be much easier to gain momentum as a team and win more consecutive rounds.

Swiftplay matches are intended to last roughly 15 minutes on average, cutting down the match time to below half of what the average length of an unrated or competitive match tends to be. The mode is currently in beta and is expected to be removed in early January, however it has been speculated that we will see a return of Swiftplay as a result of the overwhelmingly positive reviews of the mode.
