The walkout king is back: Fnatic re-signs Boaster for another year
Fnatic makes their first offseason move by re-signing in-game leader Jake "Boaster" Howlett for another year. This marks Boaster’s sixth year in the Fnatic jersey, guiding the team to multiple top finishes on international stages throughout his journey. While some expected retirement, Boaster isn’t ready to put the mouse away just yet.
Sixth year on the roster
Boaster has a long history in esports, having tried to go pro in both Counter-Strike and League of Legends before joining Fnatic’s VALORANT roster. Since signing with Fnatic in 2021, Boaster has been the team’s constant — leading the squad through roster changes, shifting metas, and evolving competitive environments. He has also pulled off several intense comebacks on the big stage, proving his mental resilience and competitive drive.
In their re-signing announcement, Fnatic emphasized how much Boaster’s stage presence has contributed to the VALORANT team’s worldwide recognition. With his vibrant celebrations and iconic walkouts, Boaster has entertained fans across the globe with his charisma, something he plans to continue into the new year.
Disappointing placements
2025 was a successful yet somewhat frustrating year for Fnatic, as they reached three Grand Finals but finished second each time. Although they once again claimed the regional championship in VALORANT Champions Tour 2025 - EMEA Stage 1, it was the only trophy they brought home. Heading into 2026, Fnatic’s goal is clear: close out more Grand Finals with Boaster leading the charge.
More moves in the works
Boaster is the first confirmed player to stay with Fnatic for the 2026 season. In their official announcement, Fnatic teased that more offseason surprises are on the way so which players will remain on the roster alongside Boaster remains to be seen.
