Tokyo’s Ryut banned after being caught cheating in a tournament

We have had a few cheating allegations against professional VALORANT players so far in the scene, with G2 Esports’ player Ardis "ardiis" Svarenieks being one of the first, but was eventually cleared after investigation from Riot Games themselves. In a recent North American VALORANT tournament, TGS Signature Series, team Tokyo reached the Quarter Finals, coming up against Vancouver elated. Tokyo’s player, Ryut, was caught blatantly using an aim-lock cheat during the match.

In a captured Twitch clip, Ryut was defending C site on Haven when he decided to push through the Connector area towards the Garage. His crosshairs instantly locked in on an enemy behind the wall, completely ignoring the visible Reyna in front of him. Not only that, the instant head-lock that occurred gave it away as his cursor flicked towards the opposition in an inhuman manner.

Following the incident and the clip going viral amongst the VALORANT competitive community, Ryut has deleted his Discord and Twitter, and didn’t comment on any of the accusations directed towards him. However, it doesn’t end there, as Riot Games’ Vanguard system responded to the reports issued against Ryut and banned the player’s account. For those who don’t know, VALORANT’s anti-cheat software bans the user’s hardware ID, which makes it impossible for them to play the tactical shooter again unless they purchase a new PC to play on.

In a game as young as VALORANT and with the incredibly promising and growing viewership numbers we see with every tournament, we are bound to see players eager to jump on the bandwagon but not willing to put the time or effort to genuinely improve at the game, and rather take the easy way to glory. Ironically, Tokyo lost to Vancouver elated 2-0 in the end, failing to continue their run in the TGS Signature Series.
