VALORANT Champions Tour 2026: New Kickoff format and global VCT schedule revealed
The VALORANT Champions Tour 2026 promises an exhilarating overhaul, with expanded global events, intensified formats, and pathways for emerging teams, kicking off in January and culminating at Champions Shanghai.
VCT 2026 Schedule
VCT 2026 spans from January to November, doubling the number of host cities compared to 2025 for heightened fan engagement.
- Kickoff: January 15 – February 15, with Americas starting January 15, EMEA on January 20, Pacific and China on January 22.
- Masters Santiago: February 28 – March 15.
- Stage 1: March 31 – May 24.
- Masters London: June 6 – 21.
- Stage 2: June 30 – September 6.
- Champions Shanghai: September 24 – October 18.
- Game Changers Championship: October – November.
Stage 2 Playoffs will become destination events in new regional cities, while VCT China embarks on a five-city tour for the first time ever, giving fans in different regions in China a chance to get a piece of the hype as well.
Kickoff's Triple Elimination Format
Kickoff introduces a high-stakes triple-elimination format across all leagues, where 12 teams compete and three losses spell elimination, extending the event for more matches. Top teams from Champions 2025 receive first-round byes, with the top three per league securing spots at the expanded 12-team Masters Santiago, up from the previous 8, offering more Championship Points and pressure-packed brackets.
Adding to that, every VCT stage, from Kickoff to globals, shifts to do-or-die bracket play, boosting match volume and drama.
Global Stages and Open Pathways
Masters Santiago marks South America's return since LOCK//IN back in 2023, followed by Masters London, and Champions Shanghai crowning the World Champions.
A major shift opens Champions to Challengers: replacing ascensions and visitor slots, top Stage 2 performers qualify directly, alongside two via playoffs and two via refreshed Championship Points, fostering fresh contenders with Riot's support including stipends.
